| SKUNKED 7/17
Woke up at 1:40 a.m., made final preparations, waiting in the truck at 3 a.m. for rest of party to show up. At 3:05 a.m. called rest of party to find out where they were only to find out someone overslept (in Temecula). Decided to leave without them and meet at SI. Got boat launched and rest of party showed up.
Left bait dock at 4:30 and headed towards 371. Water had slight swell (2 ft) and had a glassy look to it. Reached the North Island and all of a sudden the water was just horrible. Had to go from 17 knots down to 9. Started calling other boats at the 371 to see how things were going and got a guy close to me saying he was "trying" to make it out there. Wasn't feeling good about this one.
Then the first person started getting sick, then the second person started getting sick, then the third person (who never has gotten sick) started looking real bad.
What to do, what to do. We move on and finally get close. Dropped the trollers, all kinds of meter marks, other boats getting hookups but nada for us. We get one jig strike but got off.
Someone opens the cooler that someone brought and there sits two big "BANANAS". I personally don't believe in that stuff but I included that for those who do.

we hit the 371 for only one strike all day. That seemed to be the best area all day, it looked fishy and all the cattle boats were out there as well. We managed one for the day. Maybe we'll getum next time good luck out there.

Man that sucks. I hate when that happens to me when I wake up at 6am. 1:30am with no fish and sick. You guys are dedicated waking up at 1:30am. If I wake up at thet time I had better catch some 200 lb tunas, a couple swordies and a marlin or I'm pissed!
Better luck next time.

I feel your pain. We went just shy of the 371, 302, 226 upper nine and back down. Save the day with a legal halibut on the way in. The gas bill hurt!

Do Not bring bananas on board even if you "dont believe in it" Also, I usually throw money at Neptune. So far it has worked pretty good. I usually throw .77 cents.
Good luck next time!

We all know how it feels to have one of those days. It really sucks when other people (Brandon and Curt) have a WFO bite in the same area.

Saw BANANAS on a recent Inside Sportfishing TV show. The Excel captain was actually using the bananas to show how to hook a squid for the big Yellow Fin Tuna. They killed the fish on that trip. Find another excuse Banana haters.
