I just want to start out this thread with saying...............
"Ain't it nice to be putting some albie's on the boat?
Now you know and we knew that there were plenty of fish up close. So the local banks were going to be bumper to bumper. Team Hanna hates crowds. So we had to come up with a plan that would guarantee us to be catching fish all alone. So we made a plan.......stuck with it, and it worked like a charm.
Big Steve, Saluki and I started out with some crunchy rolls on the way down to San Diego on Friday afternoon. Hit the water around 4:30 pm or so. Got bait (story later), and headed to towards the 371. Nobody there......just like we planed. About 6:00 pm at 24 over 28 the jigs went off, got two on troll and 2 on bait. Nice way to start the trip. Water temp was around 64.8 Trolled for about another hour and got another on the boat. 5 on the way out, got to love it. Then dark set in and we did what Hanna does and set the Auto Pilot at around 7 knots and headed south for the night. Woke up in the morning to this.
O' well...........first time that's happen in a hell of a long time. Landing bait fish was going to be tough today. Hate to bitch, our bait has been kick ass the last 3 trips out. At about 92 miles south and it was a bit bumpy, but Albie weather for sure. We knew people that were east of us and west of us, so we decided to head right back up the 31 line. First fish was at 44 over 32 around 11:00 in 64.6 water. Boxed the area and got on another one on the troll. Kept boxing this area.............remember nobody around us, and picked up another one on troll and then this time Big Steve found one of the lonely survivors in the bait tank and got one on bait. Kept heading north where everyone was bumper to bumper catching fish (hidden bank) and by the time we got there, the parking lot was empty and got one more on the troll at 12 over 30 at 5:30 pm in 65.1 water. So we ended up with 12 fish. Another great day on the water with great friends. Sure am glad that the albies are around. I love to hunt them. Here's some pics of the trip...........
Brandon and Steve enjoying the new seats we just put in.
Sure are some nice size chickens.......
Got to love it when this happens.........
Saluki and Big Steve with some of their kill.........
A seiner coming right up in our troll pattern..........
Got so close I hooked him up on our big rig..........
Then it was time to clean the fish..........
And the boat..........
Don't let Brandon eat muffins if he rides your boat.
Like I said........we had a blast. Talked with Kevan on the Dominator (Noah's/BD Charter) and they had boated a few also on their first day of a 2 day. Could hear a bunch of people catching and a few not catching on 72. But heard more stupid shit more than anything on that channel. Had to turn it to 16 before I got a headache. Channel 72 has went to shit. Just ate some fresh albie, and now it's time for a nap. I must be getting old.
