| 06-13-07 Worse than the last episode of Sopranos!!!
David (my cousin) and I left bright and early this morning for a little exploration. We headed west towards the SCI basin and hit a nice paddy betwwn the buoy and the 43 with lots of Yellowtail crashing all around this bad boy. I hooked up right away and pulled a nice Yellowtail on the boat and then it was a lockjaw cituation. It was like there was a Mako or something chasing these fuckers around but the wouldn't bite...
We then headed towards the ButtFly and almost had to pull the trollers in cause of the ACRES of Bonies that were erupting all over the place. Ran with some porpoise for a bit for nothing. The water out there was 60.5 at best. Pretty damn barren out there as far as kelps.
We then headed south east towards the Hidden Bank and couldn't find a thing, no pun intended. Started heading home on the 117 40 line and I was comming down from the tower and for some unexplainable reason I grabbed a jig on one of the trollers and prick!!! I didn't even want to look at it, I knew the barb had sunken and I was fucked. Well I've seen a few hooks pushed through, barbs cut off, and hooks removed but this one was sadly different. The angle at which it lodged it's self in my finger would have required forcing the hook a long way's and up through my finger nail area. Well fuck that, we played with it for a bit and decided this was a job for a proffesional.
I'll be damned if the wind and swell didn't pick up at this very unfortunate time. My cousin David has never really driven a boat so trimming, windshield wipers, throttle control, ect.. were all very new to him today. We plowed home at about 28-30 MPH and I felt like cutting my head off for every bump we hit. I was in a hell of alot of pain and my poor cousin did the best he could.
We past the point and call Gay Wipe Daron and he comes down to Dana Landing and grabs me, away we go to PB Urgent Care. They take me right away I think I skipped like 10 sickies, sorry folks!!! The Doc say's he's done this before so ok NO BIGGIE. He numbed the crap out of my hand and some how leveredged the hook (he was using alot of force) with all his might and got it to pop out in a reasonable spot. It was weird having him pull and push so hard (I could tell he was worried) and I couldn't feal a thing. It felt like forever but he succeeded in getting the barb through. Unfortunately for me the tweezers and the Toe Nail clippers weren't going to cut this big ass hook. Doc. had to run off to the auto store to get the right tool. Well the tool worked and the hook slid out barbless NO Problem. Lots of blood and Doc. say's that's a good thing. Well then One Antibiotic to the ASS, One Tetnis shot in the arm, One finger with two really big holes, and a grip of cash later and I'm out of there...
Thank you so much PB Urgent Care, Daron, and my cousin David, I owe you guy's big time!!!
So here's the Sopranos End of the Season part- On the way home I'm listening to my messages and the Broker for my boat had left a message saying that they had recieved an acceptable offer on my boat. WTF, is this how my last mission on my Baby is supposed to have gone. How fucked up. Well I'm not going out like that so I tell them that I'm in a BD Yellowtail Tournament this weekend and that my boat is NOT available until next week!!! They had no problem with that so this weekend better be a good one...
So yeah today ran me about a grand or so, kind of funny since I stated in my Schedules post how I didn't think $100 was alot of money to spend for a great day on the water hunting... Well shit I guess everything happens for a reason.

Damn too bad about the jig hook, but it looks like not much has changed out there since when I went. Paddies were very few and water was cold. Bonies were all over but they were small. Hey at least you were on the water even though the added attraction was not pleasant... Thanks for the report.
