So we headed out monday night looking for the school of chickens that the Royal Star found last week. We fished all day tuesday in the general vicinity of the phantom albies. Our trip was sposored by John Grabowski's radio program, so we got a lot of cool giveaways, which was nice. Our boat was captained by Terry and we had a great crew.
As for the fishing, we ended up with a bunch of yellows we pulled from random paddies. Only about 1 in 5 paddies was holding. We had a few knockdowns by bonies, but no schools.
Tuesday afternoon the weather picked up, which made spotting the paddies that much harder.
All yellowtail were in the 8-12lb. range, except the jackpot fish, which was pushing 25. Great trip, met some cool people, but did not see hide nor hair of an albacore.
Thanks again to the captain and crew. It was a very enjoyable trip!
