| Report Cortez Bank 10/25 Sea Adventure 80 = Yellowtail
Fished with a couple of friends on the Sea Adventure 80 out of H&M on a 1.5-day. Left Tuesday night at 9pm. Nice boat with huge bait tanks, tons of room at the rail, double-wide bunks, and a real light load. Got to the bank at about 8:30 am and set up on the SE corner. Lots of birds and seal, and breaking bonitos. Fished roughly 90 to 120 feet of water for basically wide open bonies up to 10 pounds and a steady pick on 12-24 pound Yellowtail for most of the morning. First drop into the spray brine was 37 yellows, a bunch of bonies and a few rockfish (sculpin, sheephead, treefish). Made a move at lunch to the NW corner for almost nothing. Straight back to the SE where the bonies were still biting but the yellowtail had slowed. Still picked enough to go to pushing 70 yellows in the count when we headed for home at dark. All the yellows came on the sardine/dropper loop, except right before dark when a couple bit the YO-Yo iron 6x Jr. Line test from 30-50 pounds. Good food, good crew, big galley, great sleeping = fun trip. Of, the weather was good with about a 5 foot swell and 1-2 foot chop at worst. Ride in was cadillac. Back at the dock at 6am, then off to work. BTW: My buddy to JP with a 24 pound Yellowtail.
