| Skunked Thursday
Changed plans at the last minute and launched out of MB hoping for footballs on the north nine. Got to play with them several miles north of the n9 but no takers. Some folks chased those fish all day with no takers. Not one boat got one single fish off of the schools on the north nine ALL DAY! We ran to the 302 and back (twice) for nada. Stopped on many paddies, no one home. Saw a big sportfisher (40ft +) loaded with guys fishing a paddy on the 226. Hailed them over and over on 72 while still 1/10 mile out. Came up on the far side several hundred yards from them, stood back, called some more. Finally we waved. No response ...so we slid on in on the far side. It looked like the guy on the bow had a fish on. After they boated (or lost) the fish, they came back around, slow trolling on top of the paddy and proceeded to chew us out for not asking to come it!!! I told him politely (YEAH RIGHT ) WE SHOUTED FOR 5 MINUTES ON 72 THEN RESORTED TO HAND WAVING WITH NO LUCK. I fish in the middle of the damn week and I still manage to find the biggest jerk in the water! His reply...He said he wasn't on 72. My guess... 'he's not from around these parts!' I wish I could remember the boat name, started with an "I" I think. Point is, even if we had not called first, our approach was so slow and courtious (even my newby fishing cousin said so...) The guy was an ass for yelling at us.
Ok, done venting. Heard reliable reports of Yellow Fin Tuna at 118.03 /32.28. Should have gone the distance. It was a beautiful day for a boat ride!

Middle of the week and you still had to come in on their paddy?
Not my method of making friends. 5 minutes or an hour, it doesn't matter. Mooching is sickening. Many boats stick on 68 in these parts also.

It was pretty frustrating chasing those porpoise watching the meter load up with tuna below. We also checked out more than a dozen good size patties today with no one home. We even threw some bait on a dead seal for no love. Any way great day on the water

Why did you bother asking them? You went in anyway. You're right you should have gone the distance. Chances are you would have run into fish on the way. Lately we have been doing 110mi round trips to avoid crowds. Sorry you didn't get any today.

If they did't invite you in, and you couldn't raise them to ask, why would you jump their paddie? Sounds like you broke your own rule, why call them F'd when you F'd up?

Did the "I" look like the 6 pac IMPULSE? They are a pretty good charter boat just trying to make a living.

Going long and avoiding the crowds is alot more fun, finding the fish on your own is the best thing about fishing.
