Fished the Ambusher with Jim and Sean today, and thanks to Jimbo I got my first tuna!!!
Headed out of the no-fish harbor an hour before the receivers opened.....slap: damn off season hours. Tried to make bait with no luck, seems they have us by the short and curlies.

We were however rewarded for our wait with what seemed like 3 scoops of very healthy bait that stayed clean the whole day.
First paddie stop just after greylight held nothing but gobs of mini-macs so we loaded up. On our way to the 182 area, we stop on a paddy that gets us 6 - 8 to 10 lb. jellos and this nice hen for me.
Then out the 182, we find mammals, terns, bait, paddys, no wind, 2.5 ft. swells and 68.5 to 69.8 degree water. TERNS working over boils produced 3 Dorado, and 2 Yellow Fin Tuna on slow-trolled deans.
A few Dorado were farmed under the birds, but it seemed the tuna were hanging with the Dodes..... wtf?
Sean hung the other Yellow Fin Tuna same as mine, under the birds, on a slow-trolled dine. Great fishing with you today Sean, hopefully I'll see you out there again soon!
Jim fished hard today, and he worked even harder to get Sean and I hooked up. For this the fish gods smiled upon him as well!
I can't say enough good things about Jim, his boat, his knowledge, and his wife/chef

. I have been DYING to get a tuna-bit before I leave here in 2 weeks, and Jim came through. Buddy I owe you one!!!!
CHAOS: Well, I think we can all relate to this, and I think it's why fishing is like crack for some of us. "Hours of trolling through dead water abrubtly interrupted by a few minutes of chaos."
Go west, and terns the key. The fish bit 40# mono just as well as the 20 lb. flouro. Also, if you see terns working, get under them and get bait in QUICK! have someone on the boat constantly watching where the birds go next because they are on the move with the fish, AND FAST!!!
