Took the Galaxsea out today with Kurt, Bill Rinkes, Rex and Rick...left SD Bay E Bros bait barge a bit after 7am to hit the triangle starting at the 425. Got to the 425 area but no love. Water started to warm up to 69.5 about 5 miles west of the 371 and paddies eveywhere. Finally get a small tail at 3217 X 11729 (26 miles) and I'm thinking ok we're on to something...but it was for not. Trolled our collective A$$E$ to west of the 371 and up through the 230 and a bit towards the 226 looking for warmer water...well the water actually got colder in the 66-68 range, yes tht cold. The best warm water was where we got the tail.
After taking a pounding going West and NW, we decided to hit the Coronados and try for some tails. Hit the middle grounds around 3pm or so and ended up getting some bones and a nice calico bass on a sardine. As Kurt said, the sea dogs were in full force...wheres the rock salt when you need it

. Anyways, I pulled the calico out before they could get it...Bill's bonita got dog bit on the tail but we released it anyways.
Hit some nice bird/boil/bait action about 6.4 miles from the whistler on the way in...turned out to be more bones but was kinda fun to try it. Also on the way in to pukey (about 4 miles to the west) we trolled through some porpoise what appeared to be working bait. Dont know if the meter marks were Yellow Fin Tuna or dolphin...non conclusive but tried it for about 45 mins to no avail.

Weather was very sloppy and rough

but still enjoyed fishing on labor day weekend. Thanks again guys for the fun trip.

Lets go do it again.
