Launched from MB at 7am with my buddy Sid. We worked an area 16 miles northwest of La Jolla. The kelps were scarce to non existent in this zone. We found only one paddy in this area and if it wasn't for that floating dead seal we would have drove right by it. Setting up on the kelp we proceed to boat 3 yellows POST HASTE, because here comes Team Paddy Pirates. First a Seaswirl Cuddy, next a Procat Catamaran CC, and then 3 others. I think it was the 4th boat that hailed us to come into the paddy and one of the other Pirates invited them in!? Frickin ridiculous! I'd say we were on this kelp no more than 5 minutes, before they we on us. (Pics of fucktards attached). Note, position of Seaswirl in relationship to where I'm taking the photo....
Disgusted, we left this paddy and headed west towards the 181. Found many kelps on the inner ridge and right on top of the high spot. Only a few holding, but multiple boats already on them. The water laid down flat out there and it was just too beautiful to put into words. 6 miles short of the spot we found the right kelp. Dorado everywhere! Sid gets the first bait in the water and goes instant bendo! Next, it's my turn! We boat both dorados and go out again for another double. At this point, I'm thinking this is awesome, but it's short lived. I look up and Team Bayliner is setting up to poach our paddy. Guys, isn't fishing supposed to be relaxing? Not with this shit going on? We put the next 2 on the boat, snap below photo. I look up again and they call over to us, "you guys catchin anything off that paddy?" I respond, " yeah what does it look like" and btw, say cheese your boat and ugly mugs are going to look real nice posted on Bloodydecks, you Ef-n-dimwads! Before the remaining dodos got lock jaw, Sid "a.k.a. JUSTICE" Bautista proceeds to boat 3 more dorado and school me on how to do it. Atta Boy, Sid!
Guys, enjoy the pics!

Once you've been molested and your ready to move, have some fun and well pinch the paddy, float on it, donuts around it. This topic will get you so mad!

Great job on the dodos in spite of what is going to be a reoccurring theme. The unfortunate realityis that there are way more boats than holding paddys. Based upon my experience yesterday (I let in a polite skipper who asked) more than one can work a paddy w/out shutting it down. However I don't think more than two on a paddy is a good thing............
Maybe we should all quit posting our catches and the traffic might mellow out..................

Love the pics of the idiot patrol------that's classical. It's also what I'm gonna start to do beginning this weekend when someone comes on in and poached my weed. Maybe some public humiliation will make them think about doing that next time...
I'm starting to seriously wonder if anybody out there finds their own fish anymore.....Of the dozens of paddys I've found and fished over the past few weeks, over 90% of them were poached by idiots.....What I find even more annoying now is when you set up on the bush that took you 3 hours to find, make one drift on it, look up and there's the idiot patrol looking at you...."Hey skipper, you pulling anything off of that paddy?---Mind if we slide on in?"
I"ve never said no......well, those days are gone. I am absolutely certain that the majority of boats out on the weekends now look for stopped boats much moreso than they look for their own kelp. It saves time, gas and money to do this....It's for pussys in my book. Unless I know the dood asking to come in on my paddy, or unless I can identify them as someone on this board who has some kooth, anybody asking to slide in on my paddy can go pound sand from here on out.
I'll say it again......FIND YOUR OWN FISH!
I"m not even looking forward to fishing tomorrow (sat)....in fact, I'm almost dreading it----somehow this seems to defeat the purpose of getting out there , huh?

Jeri Rigged - I hear you. 2's company and 3's a crowd. They just have to pick up the mic and hail on 72. For far to many, that is just too much work, just like finding their own paddy. Fishing isn't about instant gratification, or we'd call it catching.
I'd leave early and go far.

Beautiful day out there Chris, too bad about the bozos..................................multipleboa ts can fish a paddy as long as everyone goes about it correctly. Big problems is that many boaters don't have any clue as to how to approach a paddy and fish it properly.
Here is a tip............................................... .. YOU DON'T HAVE TO STOP ON TOP OF THE FUCKING PADDY TO CATCH A GAWDAMN FISH!!!!!!! Stop the boat above the paddy and off to one side so your drift will take you alongside the paddy, not right on top of it, it is ok to shut off your motor watch the other boats who are hanging fish............you won't see them restting on the paddy after every fish. If you chum properly and keep a dodo hanging, you can get them to follow your boat........................they will forget the paddy is even there. Next thing you know 8-10 fish in the bag and you are 1/4 to 1/2 mile away from the paddy, and all the other boats are maybe scratching a fish here and there.
Use common sense and proceed SLOWLY when approaching and resetting on a kelp, you more than likely were not the first one on it, and you should respect the other boaters who are already fishing the paddy.:rantoff:
