off-in shore 5-14

Started off 5-13 running around doing stuff like stopping off at noahs and west marine for stuff, food, and boat food/ice.
Spent the rest of the day fixing stuff like bilge pumps, radio in tower, the head, and other nicknaks.
Underway @ 4:45 am to get fuel 3.62 a gallaon at islanda fuel dock @ 5:15.
HEADDED OUT TOWARD THE 302 AND 371, AND CLOSE TO THE 425.
Stopped on 50+ paddys from the toilet seats all the way to a regulation 6'X6' paddy and that bigger paddy produced a 4-5lb bonito instant boil and hook up on a dine.
Jeezzzz wtf?
Bait was a mix of dines macks and 2 lone anchovies.
Bait tank held that scoop pretty good!
Well plan b.
Stopped off at one of my favorite cod spots and limits of boccockaio, 1 nice red and a nice ling.
I hooked what was either a cow or a huge ling, and that fish rocked me on 30lb and drag hammered down- maybe a yellow but it acted like hooking the bottom and gaining 20 ' of line and it took 10' on a powerfull run and gone.
Boat worked rather well except the starb. engine didn't like to go faster than 3k without temp rising.
Time to change the s/w impeller on that pump I think, as the heat exchanger and stuff was just worked on and the inspection and repair was flawless.
Thanks James, and your learnning some boat, and fishing stuff quickly.
Gary Bravo 6 did in fact have an albie as I didn't know who he was at first. I thought it was some newbie saying tuna and I was thinking bonito from far away looking at it, then they spread it's pecs, then a closer look it really was a peanutcore lol.
What was really funny at first they where talking 105 miles each way talking tuna, and I first thought 1 little bonito!

Nice meeting you....

Here's some pics:

First one is a little bird that I have no idea what it is that Kev took a picture of, second is a seal that apparently got a little too close to a seiner or a shark, third is fireworks from sea world, and 4th is Kev digging for gold...

Glad you got out Kev, and worked on some of the bugs, hopefully you are good to go for some hot offshore action now.

I am humbled before all as some boats got fish that day.
Damn, I must be rusty.

Its still early and the boat is slow, so what takes us three hours to do paddy hopping, most guys including that Grady we saw out there can do it in an hour. It was funny to look at the GPS and it would say two hours left to get to the 371 lol

There's always next weekend As long as we get some more warm water pushing up I think we could get more tail action. Heard the cuda went off in close so we will have more options.
