The Marina Del Rey Anglers Club awards $500 twice a year to the angler whose name is pulled from the cards turned in with the heads. The most recent winner was Glen Hill for a fish caught off Ventura.

Re: White Seabass Release and Recapture Facts (Please turn in heads!)

While some of you are worried about what you get for turning in the head, the enviro wako's are slowly but surely taking away your right to fish, with closures. It is in your best interest to support groups like this and others that are trying to protect your rights! If you catch a White Seabass, turn in the head. If you and I don't do something and get involved no one else will. I tip my hat to those of you that support this organization and the organization itself.

Two weeks ago we released 7575 of them in the 8 to 10 inch size.
This was the Channel Islands Harbor release.

Re: White Seabass Release and Recapture Facts (Please turn in heads!)

So if a 60 pounder is 30 yrs old, The biggest hachery fish are half that size at best?

Are the females bigger than the males. I do know there alot fatter during spawning time in the spring.

What info is taken from a BIG fish that is too old to be a hachede fish? We can get the stones then turn in the heads? Do they need the stones too?

Re: White Seabass Release and Recapture Facts (Please turn in heads!)

I turned one in last year at Hubbs, no one seemed to know what was going on. I finally was directed out back and gave the fish to some guy who threw it in a freezer. Asked me where it was caught and what bait... That was it. I guess it must have been lunch time or Friday.

Everyone should support this program and enter the 2007 WSB Derby right now. It's only $30 and easy to sign-up here: Derby Resources I'm talking sustainable harvest because those things are so tasty. It also buys us some leverage against full closures of productive areas in SoCal.

Hey Gil,

I turned in my WSB head on the 4th of this month, took a few to get someone to meet me in the lobby. But once they did, the guy showed me the tanks where they raise fish, answered all my questions, and gave me alot of info.

I found out that my 48 lb. fish was a wild female, at about 16 years of age...I'm 32...that half my age! Needless to say I will help in any way that I can.

I think you might have been there on a busy or off day. The guy's at Hubbs rock.
