Name: Markus Medk Age: 36 Vessel: New Lo-An Location: Cardiff Job:Fisherman | Good weather, good tuna fishing
After a miserable weekend of very poor working conditions, during which we completely missed, the weather came down and the fish were back up.
We started out on the Cortez Bank for a couple of yellowtail, before getting the emergency call that big spots of yellowfin were running around.
We got into the area by midafternoon, and immediately picked off a nice school for 95 tuna in the 25 to 38# class. They bit very good for the first 1.5 hours, and then it slowed way down. We only had 14 people fishing, so they all had their hands full. 40 or 50# with a nice sardine was the hot ticket for the majority of the bite.
We have an overnight on Friday, Sunday, and then another 1 1/2 day on Monday.
Hope to see a few of you this week,
-Markus
BTW, it's kind of pathetic to call BS on the First String just because you missed.

The 1.5 day numbers were from yesterday. I don't think the numbers today were very good.
1 good day for every 10 bad. This season sucks.
