Ran directly to the 182 and then to the 181, stopped and trolled some dolphins once, no takers. Paddies were a tough comodity. Heard Babalou put out some numbers on a large paddie he and SuzieQ took 3 or 4 bulls off of and I was ONLY 4 mileas away, so I shot over there. Babalou said he and SuzieQ had drifted it a couple times when a couple yaho's came over and tied off to it and shut down the bite. I figured they would not last long and by the time I got there, they would be looking for another paddie to shut down
Anyhow, it was a nice freakin paddie 49 over 51 were the general numbers, five miles or so south of the 181. I get there and this guy is parked 5 feet from the paddie, and every time he drifted 15 yards off it, he would back right back up to it, while his kids (i think they were kids) emptied the bait tank on the paddie. Anyhow, I figured he would get tired or run out of bait, so I and 2 other boats slowed trolled dines about 150 feet or more around the paddie and I was just amazed at all the Dorado jumping out of the water everywhere EXCEPT around the damn paddie. Anyhow, slow trolling wasn't getting it done, so I set up a long drift and found the best swimmer in the bait tank, and chummed a bunch, and in about 15 minutes the water exploded about 75 feet behind my boat where my bait and chum were. So anyway, I fight a nice bull to the boat, jumped 3 times nice with other dodo's crashin the chum, but I lost him near the boat. Had other swimmers with him, but parted my line and went byebye.
Anyhow, we gave that paddie another 1/2 hour and after about the 5th boat showed up, and the first boat was still backin down on it and throwin bait (he had ALOT of bait) we left. My bait was beat by this time, around noon or 1pm I would guess.
Conditions are great, no swell or wind, just a beautiful day on the pond with my son Joe. Water color is great, water temp to 71.2. Water started getting real nice between the 182 & 181. Birds & dolphins but few paddies for me again.
