Ron and I made a huge mistake of running 114 miles south west yesterday morning to try for some yellowfin. Wind was howling and the wind waves were nasty. I was taking waves in the tuna tower looking for paddies. We boated 11 yellowtail and 3 dorado between us, Dodo's were of the smaller class while the yellows were in the 30 pound range with a couple of smaller grade mixed in. We decided to head home around noon and really wasn't looking forward to the 114 mile ride home uphill. Again, LOOOOOOOONG RIIIIIIDE!!!!!! On the way home, we spent about 30 minutes trying to bait a #300 swordie. Beautiful fish when lit up. Water was gross looking all the way down to the 295 and below. This year sucks!!!! That's my story and I'm sticking with it even though I don't have any pictures!

No biggie, we only overshot the fish by about 70 miles! Once again, no problem considering gas is so cheap right now. And the ride home, I feel like an old fuckin' man right now. Next time, I'm hoppin' on a partyboat and let someone else do the dirty work (I know, "what a pussy").

I don't know ... last year I said I was going to do more inshore fishing this year, and that's what I've done for the most part. The inshore action (for me) has been great and has made this year worth it! It costs less too!!!

I have never seen a "suning" Swordie before. I would come unglued if I saw something like that. Good job on the fish. Ryan

Ouch, sorry I couldnt share the pain and the cost, my power was out at the house for 24hrs prior in this heat. At least you brought home some fish, but I do agree with Ron, let someone else drive, do the dirty work, and take it easy on a run like that, I am getting old too.
