Prepare for a boat ride. Albies Heading for Japan

Just got back from a day and half trip to the Mushroom, Cortez Bank and 60 Mile Bank and Butterfly, Water Temp 65 and Blue but the only thing jumping were mass Skippys... and Micro Yellowtail on all the kelps. We fidshed the area hard yesterday all the way till sundown. A couple of multi-day sportboats werre in the area for awhile and they headed towards Cortez in the evening. Not sure how they did in the afternoon but we started at the Cortez for Nada and then the Fly on to the Mushroom then to the 60 and back home and wound up with 12 Skipjack and 12 Rats for 4 of us. Condtions were nice and water was flat just no one home. Had dirty water until 65 miles out then it turned blue. Heard one guy claim he had 8 big albies 3 miles north of the 60 but that was radio fish and everyone knows about that. We were the only boat left out there in the afternoon evening. Just figured i would save a couple people some hard earned money. And those that do go will say... Hey that was right... Just my report, but people say i can't fish worth a squat.

Sounds about right.
We had the same experance.
60 mile bank to the mushroom and back.
Lot's of cute yellowtail and skippies.

You had to be at the right place at the right time to get some tuna.

Great day though on the water.

I can tell you the fish are not headed to Japan. I fished the Hidden and 378 area with plenty of Albies on bait and Jig strikes... Plenty of Skippy's caught along with some 26-30lb albies... I wrote about this on Fish dope... The fish have gone a little south thats all... The airplane seems like a good place to start and work your way back... Good Luck... The Sea Konig...
