HAZZARD at the 209!

Metal Stabilizing pipes about 6' long floating all over the 209 bank. They must have fallen off a cargo ship. They are floating vertical anywhere from 2" to 2' above the water and are hard to see.

Thanks for the heads up. This is one of my biggest fears about running at night.

Every time I hear of someone talking about running 20+ knots at night I get cold chills..even in the "nut days" when I was "fearless"..about 8-10 knots was it...we hit a piece of semi submerged plywood, edge on with my old Jeffries at about 8 knots and it and scared us to death...luckily no puncture but one hell of a bang. They tell me that the ships out in the lanes use sheets of plywood to separate their "stores" and when they don't need it anymore, over it goes...it soaks and just lays about 3-4 inches under the surface...don't know what a 4x8 sheet of wet plywood weighs but it's enough.

YIKES makes me remeber what happened to the legend a couple years back and we had to give them some more pumps when they punched a hole.

A perfect reminder of why to go a little slower at night and not be a potential threat to yourself and others.

That's good information. We should all report hazards like this. If I was going out tonight, I would definetely slow down. No need, since there's no fish.
