| 12/12 Tons of Tails on a Looooong Ride
Left S.I. on Sat. night at 8:30 in thick fog, with Capt. Curt on his 24’ Skippy F/B & 171 gallons of gas, headed for “Lower Cross” (31.00 & 118.00). Day break found us at 110nm from the pt. & working a 2 degree temp break for notta. We talked to Matt & Bruce working an area west of us, so we worked our way out to 118.24. And finally came across our first kelp, it was full of 5-12 lb. yellowtails. They swarmed the boat & we switched from bait to irons, it was the best (qty. wise) Yellowtail fishing I’ve ever been on. Curtis was getting nailed every cast, then we started “skip jigging” the irons across the water. Those little yellows were exploding on the irons sometimes knocking it clean out of the water. We left that kelp and started hop scotching on kelps about one every mile for the same results, everyone of them plugged with Yellowtail’s! At noon we headed for Pt. Loma in glassy conditions with no wind. Arrived at S.D. just in time for the chaos known as the Christmas Boat Parade ughhhhh what a disaster the channel & ramp was! After waiting for everyone to stop chit-chatting at the launch docks Curtis dropped me off to get the trailer. After getting the trailer in the H2O Curtis informed me that we ran outta gas, good thing we didn’t bring 170 gallons . Tied a line on the bow and hand pulled old Hanna to the trailer and off we go.
Thanks again bro for another awesome day on the pond, I had a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bet that fog had you on your knees on the way out! I was glad you were down there to tell us there was no tuna to run for. Saved our day...

| No Albies-Lot's of Tails
Well, it was great to get on Ol' Hanna and make another long run. It was a bit cold, (it is Dec.), there was thick fog, (it is Dec.), and we didn't find any Albies, (it is Dec.). But Saluki and I had a ball yanking on those YellowTail. Those 5 to 12 pound'ers, pulled like hell for there size. Skip jigging was a blast. They put on a hell of a show, and we were laughing our ass's off. Nice working with all of you on the radio out there, Sorry we couldn't hear ya Jason. I know we all gave it hell, looking for those darn Tuna all day, and we covered a lot of water, I did mention it is Dec. did'nt I Anyway, boat ran good (just enough gas) And we're ready to try it again on the New Years day. Thanks for another great looooooooooong asssssssss trip on the water Saluki, your still one of the best Ho's in the buisness.
Curtis............
The boat Hanna..........

Glad you guys found some tails to pull on. It was great just to be out there again. Good yakking back and forth with all the guys. Oh yeah, no need in taking more gas than is necessary, it might just evaporate away :-). I've had to pull on the trailer a couple of times myself. Cya, Bruce
