| Yellows at Colnett on the Pac Voyager.12/12-12/14
I know a bunch of you guys are headed to Colnett with Mark on the 26th.Hope it stays this good for you.
Got to Seaforth around 4,had grilled Opah at Sportsmans. That shit is grub!Anyways left at 6 with a nice light load of 18 in uncertain weather.turns out weather held for us till late sat. afternoon.Started chasin yellows around 7:30 with a steady 2-4 hookups going in flurries.Few fish on droppers, most on jigs.Good fishing till 10:30 and after the smoke cleared we had 47 yellows,5 for me,all mine on the yo-yo.Not to many casualties or dumb mistakes. Most lost fish were because these fuckers are brutal and strong and PISSED!For you guys going down there heres what worked for me.I got 4 on the #60 and one on #50.Seemed the bigger jigs(6X)worked better than smaller in standard B&W and S.E..Probably because its deep and the bigger jig gets down quicker giving more presentation time in the zone.I only got 1 more than 30 feet from the bottom so i wasnt winding to many cranks before I dropped back.Anyways I missed J.P. by a pound jp being #32 and my biggest going #31.My 5 were from 25-31.
14 hour ride home in beat the shit out you weather.
So,if you're on the 26th you might want to bring the #50 and #60 and bigger yo-yo jigs.Mark and crew were fantastic and Jeffs cooking was awesome.Got meet some new B.D's guys I didnt know,AWESOME FUCKIN' TRIP!
I'm going back in the 3 weeks on the Apollo!
Oh yeah,we caught rockfish to.
