Long Report
After looking at the temp charts, I decided to hit the warm water on the Butterfly banks and South/Southeast from the West Butterfly. Left the Ebros at 230am and the ride out was a little bumpy but not too bad. The fog was starting to come in and mostly laid on top of us...not real bad but kinda of an eerie feeling with only 1/2 mi visibility. Trollers in at 630 am and the first paddy found at 730 at 25 over 05. Ray gets hit and I go in the cabin to check the meter, wouldnt ya know it, my line gets hit while Anthony is holding my rod in his left hand and the fish pops off.

ugh!! Ray's 11 lb Yellowtail hits the deck and were off to a good start. In the distance one of the guys sees the porpoise...I mark the paddy and we take off a good 1 1/2 miles away...we have meter marks, trolled in front of them and even stop to throw bait but nada. Go back upswell to find our paddy and yep its nowhere to be found.

We then start trolling towards the W Bfly and then 2 trollers go off and were all thinking albies...wouldnt you know it they both pop off just before color. I throw bait and hook up instantly along with Rob...both skippies. One kept for sushi for the local sushi guy.

Keep plugging towards the W Bfly and at 23 over 09 we see a jumping dodo next to a paddy. Tony gets hit within a min and he's on a nice dodo...dodo jumps and pop its gone. Tony only had 15 lb line on ...double doh. Reset our drift and another hookup on a nice dodo....get it in a little closer but it comes off too.

farmer city here we come. Keep working the area and at 19 over 16 we hit a real nice paddy. We had a triple going on Yellowtail and land 2 of the 3 hookups. Add one more and then drift the pad again where Larry and Anthony hook up within mins of each other. Larrys fish has real nice shoulders and works him for a while...Anthony fish takes him around the boat and were thinking Yellow Fin Tuna...turns out to be a nice 13 lb Yellowtail. Larry fish finally comes to color and we see a nice big Yellowtail...the fish is gaffed and hits the deck at a nice 27 lbs...Nice going Larry.

We work the paddy for a total of 5 Yellowtail but lose 3 to 4.

Can you say farmers?

Hit more paddys with meter marks and lock jaw and see alot of life out there...whales, molas, meter marks, terns, and then a marlin on a paddy at 16 over 11...it sunk out before we could get our shit together to bait it.

Shortly thereafter one of the guys sees alot of porpoise in the distance....at 16 over 10 we work this huge herd of porpoise w/ meter marks...tried soaking, slow trolling, trolling the jigs for nada...then we catch up again and try it one more time. This time I tell the guys to get ready to stop and drop/throw bait. As the herd comes through I finally got one to go then it came unbuttoned... wtf?? .... double doh

As quickly as that fish got away from me, it was like someone turned on a switch ...the wind and swell came on so fast it was instant "victory at sea" conditions right at 330pm...I said this is not good, we better head in now..we still had 52 miles to the point.

It was a bitch of a ride coming in running across the swell but the ole GalaxSea handled it nicely.

The total trip was a long one at 162 nm but well worth it for a nice day of fishing.
Thanks guys for a nice day of fishing.
