| First time 182 and YFT 8/21 4am dana launch, got live bait for the first time after hooking up the 2 built in live wells, started heading for the 182, kinda rough ride, got there and hit a couple paddies with live bait for nothing, hardly anyone around so headed to the 226 and on the way found a jaccuzi sized paddy and tossed live bait and something grabbed it and cut the line, quickly rigged it up again and tossed it out and let it sink 25 feet or so and BAM something hits and swims strait down, I am using my penn spinning reel with 30 lbs test, 30 minutes later see color, wife with the big net leans on the railing and the 7 megapixel camera slips out of her pocket and kaplunk, couple of cuss words and then she swipes at it with the net only to miss by 2 inches, my laughing makes me the one to buy the replacement, back to the fish and a she gets the net on it and I immediately grab the net to pull it over and there it is, 25 lbs Yellow Fin Tuna (my first). Totally stoked!!!! Back to the paddy for nothing, continued to the 226 but machine gun testing by the USCG changed our course to slightly west of the coronados for more paddies but nothing more was caught, did see a 5’ mako jump completely out of the water. Back on the trailer before 2pm and washed and dropped off at the yard before 4pm. Ate some raw and it was hands down the best sashimi I have EVER eaten!!!!! So tender and subtle but excellent flavor. Last trip I did was Dana to 371 to coronados to point loma back to dana and 85+ miles all for only 41 gallons. Amazed that the 88’ Yammie 200 can get 2+ mpg.
Cell phone pics, obviously |

Hey great job on the Yellow Fin Tuna! Next time i suggest getting a gaff for the trip though on a fish like that nets can be difficult and you might lose fish you should have nailed.
