2 day 10/03-10/05 Deep Adventures III

Worked 2nd ticket, Got back late last night. Too tired to post yesterday so here it goes.

We only started about 50 miles down...great water temp, great blue/purple color, plenty of life & the fishing sucked ass. We hit the best looking paddys I have seen & they were only holding 3-4lb Yellowtail. And hardly any at that.

At the end of the day right before sunset we spot a paddy & manage to pull off about 17 Yellow Fin Tuna's (8-15lbs)..that one saves the day.

We set up our drift for the evening, get up at grey light & start looking for the paddy we hit the night before. ABout 30 minutes later we find it...able to pull off another 8 or so Yellowtail's but no Yellow Fin Tuna. Trolling back up the line we hit just perfect paddys with major nothing on them.

Got a shitload of skippie jig strikes, & one really nice 23lb+ DODO.

Heard we did pretty good compaired to some of the other boats.

I just hope it was a slow trip & the season hasn't shut down early.

We fished the sixty on monday and had 56 Yellow Fin Tuna for 18 passengers. Lots of big paddies stopped on probably 10-15 of them suckers w/ 3-4 that produced. I got seven and the jackpot which I handed over to the crew after paying my galley tab. Gave 5 fish to other passengers w/ the understanding that they would have the crew fillet them. We did have a bunch of small small small Yellowtail that I didnt even bother to catch, and one dodo that could not thave been more than 2#s. Really wanted to take it out of the gunny sack and release it but couldnt bring myself to do it.

Sorry to hear your fishing was slow. Do you always work the Deep Ad? Did a charter on it Saturday. $4900 for 22 people. The Captian, Dori and the decks were all nice people. The boat has a long way to go before it can become a contender. The rig is a smooth ride. The rod holders are a joke. Dori's very cool and has good beer. I hope the fishing picks up. I have a charter out of Seaforth - $2400 for 20 people.

Yeah I met James. He was the 2nd that day. He drove and fished. Asked him what he thought about my blue avet sx and the flouro. We also played with the 10# string on a penn 955 - that was fun.
