OAC Meeting Tuesday June 2nd 7:00 pm...

...at the Oceanside Yacht Club in Oceanside Harbor.

Guest speakers will be Capt. Jimmy Decker of Pure Fishing. Decker will be talking about light line fishing in conjunction with our upcoming 10lb. tourney on June 13th. (Biggest fish, can't use over 10lb. test line. Members only tourney.) Also speaking will be Mike Shane of the Hubbs WSB Hatchery. Mike will be speaking about their WSB head collection program. And, Big Joe will be updating us on the MLPA Initiative. I'll also be pissing everone off with my usual rant about steering the club more towards C&R during our annual Thresher Shark Tournament. You do not have to be a member of the club to attend this meeting and feel free to bring your wife and kids.

Pizza
Huge Raffle ($1 tickets)
Cheap Bar (with beautiful Amy serving)
Chance to meet and exchange info with your fellow North County Anglers

Hope to see you there.

It was another great meeting and Marcus showed up to represent BD and the Shootout.
Too bad I did not win anything in the raffle, I hear there were several satisfied coffee drinkers

Question for the tournament - what's the rules regarding leaders? Do they have to be 10 lb test or less as well? If they can be heavier than 10 lb, how heavy can they be and is what is the length limit?

From the hook to the reel can be no more than 10lb. test line. We're not saying you have to re-spool your reels with 10lb. test. But, reason dictates if you're fishing in 80 ft. of water you should have at least 80 ft. of 10lb. on the spool. By the same token, it's not inconceiveable that a Yellowtail or Bonita could easily strip off 50-80 yards. If any test line exceeding 10lb. comes off the reel that fish will be disqualified. As with all OAC Tournaments, this is an "Honor Tournament". So, unless a protest is filed we assume everyone is following the rules. And, as with all OAC Tournaments, Ken Corwin (Tournament Director) has final say.

Hope this clears it up. Let me know if you have any questions.

Glad I went to my first meeting, Got HOOKED UP at the raffle. Good group of people. Learned a few things from Jimmy as well.

Looking forward to the 10# tournament. Thanks again.

Thanks Stan, that answers my question. Just didn't know if we could use a heavier leader or not. Thanks
