Eureka salmon season started

However, the early season bite is a little slow from the reports trickling in.

The wind kicked up by mid day and pretty much ran the few hardy souls off the water by mid afternoon with 3-5 foot wind chop.

There are fish out there and there were biters and some limits taken, the fish were reported to be plugged with anchovies so there appears to be a lot of bait right now which is a great sign of things to come .

The North wind is still blowing and the ocean has not settled down as much as the smaller boats would like yet, and the signs we see indicate a good season with lots of big fat salmon.

all of our fish yesterday were filled with krill, we were kind of suprised because of how much anchovy was around. cant wait for the weather to get nice, itll make trolling around in my little boat a lot more comfortable!

Re: Eureka salmon season started

When you find the krill there are also Pacific butts hanging around on the bottom

Re: Eureka salmon season started

At least it finally started! Now, we can do without the wind and swell and maybe we could get a legitimate chance at these things.

Congrats Nick. Sounds like you guys were one of the top boats out there.

Re: Eureka salmon season started

Thanks Harry. Yeah, I was pretty worried there crossing the jaws in the morning, the outgoing tide was ripping against the swell so It definetley made for a butt puckering boat ride. I think I found the limit on what kind of weather my boat can handle! I'm just stoked on the fact I got to fish.
