Attention Campers and Fishermen:
I would like to update everyone and thank you for the use of your web site for all the help on Lawson’s Landing’s fight to stay open. As you know just before the Salmon debate, we asked for the public’s help signing a petition. We now have over 12,000 petitions to give to the coastal commission at their next week meeting in Santa Rosa. We also have a new web site
www.SaveLawsonsLanding.com .
When I say we, I mean a public support group of about 120 people made up of campers, (with the approval of the Landing) that use the campground. We would like more help now and in the future. Your web site has many members that use this coastal public access campground.
The coastal commission backed off (for now) their Cease & Desist because of all the phone calls and at the time 5000 petitions. The owners of Lawson’s Landing agreed to the request of the Coastal Commission to allow three biologists to walk and survey the campground. The first of many walks was done last month. The owners of Landing were asked to meet with the Coastal Commission this week which they did and one of the options presented (without any report from the biologists) to the Landing was to allow the permanent trailers to stay, but give up the campground. This is not acceptable.
The help we are asking for now is about the Coastal Commission’s public meeting next week in Santa Rosa. We are going to attend this meeting and are asking for all campers and fishermen to attend who are able to do so.
