Salmon 7-2 out of Santa Cruz

I fished today with buddies Greg and Chris on Greg's Shamrock 219 The Jammy Fecker. We started due south of the SC harbor at 52/00 at abut 6:30. First fish hit a purple haze hoochie at 74 ft on the wire. The next three came on the water melon Apex at 74 to about 110 ft. At 10:00 the bite slowed down so we decided to chase some numbers 3 nm inside of us. I know, don't leave fish to find fish but what the heck. We heard some bigger fish were caught inside so off we went at 3 knts per hour. As soon as we hit the 52/57 area we hit another fish on the Apex down about 120. A short time later we had the " Go Home Fish " at 134' on the Apex again. I have never caught a fish on a water melon Apex ever and today we hit five. Nothing on bait but one shaker. Speaking of bait it was every where. Big balls top to bottom with lots of stuff popping on the surface all day long. No sea monsters today but 6 nice fish for three "Jammy Feckers"
Great day on the water.

Moss landing 7/2

We did well at the soquel area saturday. Got limits for 6 people by 10:00am. How do you rig those apexes? The leader stuff that comes with them look real flimsy.

JigStrikeX,
The first thing I do is throw away all the rigging that comes with the lure. I replace the hook with a mustsad 95170 5/0. I use Maxima ultra green 30lb and good quality swivels.
I like to run the lure about 40 inches behind a plain chrome herring dodger flasher. Don't forget to crimp the barb.

Good luck,

Who is the guy with the green color hook around his neck?
Where did he get that piece?

Sharky,
That's my buddy and long range partner Greg the "Jammy Fecker". I'll ask him where he got. It looks like a piece of jade.
