With Blues, they will bite almost anything. I've been fishing either plugs or diamond jigs all season when I am out for Blues/Stripers and haven't had any problems. Right now there are so many Blues around you should have no issues pulling some in.

When using plugs and trolling the blues have been going after everything though a yellow megabait has really been working well. For Stripers, I have been using bunker, eels, and blue/silver man's bait plugs.

Have fun with the blues tommorow.

Bluefish:

If you like your plugs for stripers leave them at home for serious striper fishing. Use you crap lures for bluefish and I highly recomend stainless diamond jigs. Use 100lb or better mono for leader material. Blues could care less about presentation and focus on shine. They will kill anything shiny and tear the hell out feathers, jigs and leaders. Blues in the 13 to 15 pound range are running offshore and give a great fight on light to medium gear. Have fun and enjoy yourself !
