Braid To Leader Knot

Hello Tight line brothers:

I figured I would start a new thread to see what everyone uses for knots on there spinners and or conventional. I have tested every concievable knot
to make loop to loop connections and I can not find anything to beat the Bimini. Even making a loop in spectra....the bimini wins out.
No you guys that put spinning tackle through its paces what knots do you use for your leaders. Bimini's with a loop to loop connection or something else ?

i stopped using loop to loop when the loops started getting hung up in the guides. i just use an albright and tie flouro to my braid. havent had a failure yet, and ive straightened hooks.

i use biminis on all my trolling gear because its all to the max of igfa certification, but ive found that a properly tied spider hitch works just as well as a bimini and is alot harder to mess up if you really want the loop

10 to 12 feet of 130lb hollow line that both ends has a loop,
make sure both loops are small in diameter, run improved albright knot from your main line to one of the loop, then tie 4 feet of twisted leader from 100lb to 130lb depend on the size of the fish you are targeting, secure the end of the twisted leader by making a loop, pass the line twice inside the loop and pull , once you do that you will end up with a loop from the other end of the twisted leader, run a snake figure from the hollow loop to the twisted leader loop, and then bring the end of the twisted leader inside the hollow loop, pull slowly until it becomes tight, then get a 4 feet of chock leader of your choice put it parallel to the end of the twisted leader and tie a figure 8 loop, you will create a bulky knot, that knot should stay outside the guide,
so far i landed quite a good size fish from 100lb to 190lb without any failure,
if you can take the abuse of 50lb drag that knot won't fail you
it look complicated but it is not.

I just read an article on sportfishing magazine .com about this exact topic. They did a fairly comprehensive test of different braid lines and different knots on each. I'm sure you can find it w. a little search. Worth the time to find it as it was a good read. Their conclusion was that a 12 turn (not 20 turn) bimini was the best for braided line. A 7 pass surgeon's knot was also a good (and easy) option for creating a loop. These both assume you are ok with using a loop to loop connection for braid to mono/flouro.

I am sure it must be easier than you make it sound. A diagram would be helpful.

I have an article nearly the same and they go with an 8 turn Bimini for braid. I use it and it works well with braid.

I run a 50w loaded with 80 Miomi Diamond for heavy standup and want to go with wind on leaders for my next trip.

I teste this spool of Diamond and it snaps at 157 almost consistantly so I figured 150 wind on leader for swords would be good .

Just don't want massive knot wound onto the spool because I run it close to max.

I havent tested the surgeons loop with diamond yet though ...I know berkley would not take it well in my tests.

PR knot ? Yes I plan to use Momoi Diamond wind on leader becuase on the head boats after one you are best to just scrap the leader and put on another because of all the chaffing. In the middle of the nite when the swords start going full tilt you get in ASAP after it has tried to takes its sword and wack through the leader several hundred times. Pound for pound they are just as strong as Blue Fin Tuna but most times they just seem to come up under pressure. Then they get good and pissed and they battle is on. So I rather just be able to loop to loop a leader in the wee hours of the morning...
