| F-14 goes down off Point Loma 3/29/04
An F-14 just recently went down off point loma with some footage taken by a tourist. It has been reported that the pilot and co-pilot both ejeted and are reported to be Ok. I saw the footage and it looks as though you can see both the pilot and co-pilot hit the water as there are two splashes you see in the video (not sure if this is the case but thats what it looked like). It was also reported that the two were rescued by a fishing boat.

(03-29) 11:56 PST CORONADO, Calif. (AP) --
A Navy plane crashed Monday off the coast of San Diego, officials said.
The aircraft went down shortly after 11 a.m., about three miles off the coast, said Steve Fiebing, public affairs officer for North Island Naval Air Station.
Fiebing did not have information on what type of aircraft crashed, nor what may have happened to anyone on board.
KSND television, citing a Navy spokesperson, said the plane was an F-14 Tomcat fighter jet which had been performing flight operations with a carrier off the coast. A private fishing boat rescued the two pilots, who then were transferred to a Navy vessel that was returning them to the Navy base in Coronado, the station reported.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Jamie Devitt-Chacon confirmed that two pilots were rescued and were being taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The Coast Guard set up a safety zone around the crash site to keep other vessels from entering the area while authorities investigate the crash, she said.
The crash site was two to three miles south of North Island Naval Air Station, she said.

The unknown fisherman :p | After seeing the footage again I think it was probably debris that made the two splashes I saw.

| Video link
Mikey-
I dont know of a video link myself, I just saw it on the news right after the crash had happened, as a tourist that was at the lighthouse with his wife caught it on tape. They showed it quite a few times when I first watched and then on the 5:00pm news it was shown numerous times, I believe it was CH- 10 news, but Im not positive on that, and Im sure there prob is a link somewhere.
