You know it's funny, everytime I find the one I want it's either
the right year, with bottom paint, and no trailer
or bottom paint, new motor, shit trailer,

I came real close to buying a '79 1 owner 24 fly no bottom paint, new pacific galv, late injected vortec with closed cooling, guy advertised it as repowered with new injection motor, It was decent, had an FBU top garmin 2006 fairly nice,

I got to looking at the same old non trim 280
that was converted to duo prop........... not exactly the repower I had in mind, fair gelcoat not perfect
and all the old crap that 24 fly's have in the cabin
and it became clear to the open is where it's at for me.

I passed he was asking 16.5 I was ready to offer 14
but just couldn't see spending that for a 24 fly
built in the seventys

My $.02 on Don

The MASTER at answering boat questions! Been reading his replys on Allcoasts Private boaters technical for years. IMO he's what makes that one forum so top notch. Glad to have him over here. Also any body that's a friend of the dawg is a friend of mine.

Don, I could have told ya you didn't want the fly! Too hard to fish by yourself on those things... Hard to bounceball without a partner, less deck space, etc...

Yep the fly would be almost impossible to fish by yourself. Shoot even the open can be a bitch somtimes. Hey Don tried to search the "To close for comfort" but could find anything. Could you explain? Also , only days I can get out next week are Sat or Sund.

too close for comfort My biggest problem was the scuppers, they were now inlets inste

I never go fishing alone! I'm used to scurying down ladders too as my second boat was a fly. I'm pretty sure if I bought a skip with a fly I would spend lots of time trying differtent seating configurations.,

bench seat with pivoting center opening
is probally what I'd build that, or a straight bench that you climb over. I don't care much for the knees in the face feeling I get sitting in small chairs

Whatta story Don. I'm going to have to install a bilge alarm now. Got a float switch hooked up to the pump but I have no way of knowing if I'm taking on water unless I lift the hatch. The backup pump you metioned is a great idea too. Thanks!!!!!

Sounds good To me Mark. My Boy Garrett really enjoyed Running around with Devyn. On the way home he was rather quiet,
I asked him what was wrong, he was upset that he
might not see his new freinds again, little guy had a tear in his eye. I'm game sign us up. Hows The Boat holding up, everything OK?
