I'm Kinda kickin myself in the ass, for not being a shrewd enough negotiator, but that guy was just stuburn his V8 was more like
a V5

I'm trying to expalin to him that it runs like shit, his buddy
is on the phone telling him it runs fine, and it started right up.
man I was pissed, drove all that way to see a boat that
was Ready To Fish, he's going on and on about a
fouled sparkplug, or bad sparkplug wire.

I offered 9 grand for that
boat with a bad motor and painted trailer! Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be, or it would be out front right now!!!

Why the fuck is that boat sitting in a lettuce field? Or is that broccoli? Either way it belongs on the big pond!

That Boat was sitting in an open farm implement stall,
guy tells me it's "real clean" been stored indoors.

Randy and I drive to Yuma to see the turn key
fish ready skipjack. It had an inch of dirt on the deck
I asked the fucker to have it ready for inspection

Drove to Yuma and got a real good reminder
as to what others perceive as "good condition" the Boat was a
mess, hadn't been run in years, and didn't even start untill the dumb SOB put five gallons of fresh gas in it. when it started I just sighed ,

call the guy and tell him his motor is shot,
and he's explaining to me that his Farmer John buddy says it runs just fine, bascially he thinks I'm trying to screw him with the lowball offer of 9k

Some people just do not have a clue of what condition a boat is in, one will say its a 9 and in reality its maybe a three, its so frustrating, keep looking dude, you'll eventually find what your looking for at the price you want to pay. Reminds me of when I was looking at airplanes, its the same thing, fly all over the country for nothing, I guess its all relevant, just friggin toys.

I wanted that particular boat because it's odd to see an 84 model, I see tons of 70 72 73 74 up to 79 even,
but thats not what I wanted. I wanted a mid eighties model.
less chnace for transom or stringer rot, better wirring condition etc etc this Boat had an early style 280 non trim model
that was a minus, the motor was a minus, the painted trailer was a minus that made it really easy to pass on .

Damn Don thats fucked up. Drive all the way out to Yuma to check out a turn key and its not even cleaned or running right and he wont budge on the price?? that guy is a ass. Also, if that skip had the non tilt 280 it was probobly the same as UnReel as she's got the non tilt 280 too. My neighbor John and his dad had some minor work done on UnReel before I got her last year and their mechanic was telling them to sell it for 12 or 13k. Here's what she looked like then sitting in Chino across the street from a cow pasture with fly shit all over her.

John being a long time fisherman wanted someone that loves to fish to have her so he sold her to me for 8,500. Needless to say John get's alot of halibut fillets. Hope your able to find that 1 skip Don and like I said your more than welcome aboard anytime(going out solo friday if you got nothing going on). Good luck on the search.
