1956 Drag Racer

This guy called my Pop's the other day to tell him he had one of his old race cars, and he was going to restore it, and wanted to talk to my dad about it. So we wen't down to his shop and sure as shit, there it was.
In 1957 he went 187 mph. in that little thing, they were shooting for 200+, so the next outing they put some kind of Jet Fuel in that sucker, he blew into flames at about 201... Holy shit, I've seen lot's of pictures, and heard lot's of stories but it was really cool to actually see one of the cars he used to race. My pop's was like a kid again!!!

My dad is 6'3" and has never been under 220, tight fit I'd say

I thought some of you old guy's might enjoy these pictures, he used to drag and street race in Long Beach, the 50s and 60s...

Way cool, eight years ago I took my son to the Bakersfield vintage drags and saw these guys in their 50's+ driving blown front engine rails. It was crazy, these guys had balls!

Re: 1956 Drag Racer

If your dad raced at Lions AKA "The Beach, I watched him. That car was on the "cutting edge" back then. I'm jealous, wish one of my cars would show up like that. Way Cool.

Re: 1956 Drag Racer

It's funny how my Pop's can't remember anything ever, and he can't hear (very selective hearing) shit, and all of a sudden he see's his old car and he's like a teenager again... I was way stoked for him!!!
