Where in the state of Oregon are you hunting?
I lived in The north east part of it -
Milton-Freewater- My dad has a cabin up there & that is where I hunted for Elk .
Maybe I drank to much last night - What did I say wrong?

I'm going to the Diamond Lake area. Sort of middle of the state, just past Crater Lake. I've never been to Oregon, or Elk hunted at all, so this will be a good trip regardless....... | |

Nice, go gettum. Are these Rocky Mtn elk or Roosevelt? What weapon are you taking? You will love elk hunting. They sure are majestic animals. Fun to hunt but the work really starts when you get one down.

Nate...
The area that I will be hunting, and for that matter, most of Oregon's heard, is I believe Rocky Mountain Elk. They have a different sub-species on the coast, but most of the rest of the state is the RME....
I will be using my trusty Remm 700 30-06, with 180 grain Federal High Energy, solid core rounds...... Specially recommended by the R.M.E.F.....  I think I got caught up in the moment..... $35.99 for the box of 20... Better not miss  . According to ballistics, they carry the same energy as a Winchester 300 mag at the barrell, and at 100 yds it's only 25 pounds less, so basically equal knockdown power....... | |
