Weld-the-Excursion update 12/02/05

Well thanks to my father-in-law it is fixed. Took less than an hour and is 10X stronger than stock.

The Original welds were just layed on top of the metal, no penetration. The two spots that did have some penetration simply served to start a tear of the bracket that pulled out a chunk of it.

We were able to get the bracket into place without having to unbolt the Track Bar, and it was amazing (to me anyway) how my dad was able to use a tack here and there to "shrink" the bracket in tight to where it needed to be.

He really understands how to manipulate metal with heat.

The end result is a totally welded bracket, completely straight and true, and it only took him about 20 minutes of actually welding, and 3.5 rods.
:thumbs

Thanks for the advice here!

Looks like you parked your truck in the kitchen for a little weld job. Who tiles their garage? Glad you got it fixed.

Cool man, thanks to pop's, Way to go on fixing it, probably would have cost you $ 500.00 plus if you took it in and had it done, You owe your father in law a big thanks and good dinner.

Nate~

You ask this question growing up in La Jolla!

Actually though, looking at the pictures its your plain old ordinary concrete driveway. You just were seeing the expansion joints that made it look like tile.

Ok I see it now. The intersection of cords? right underneath the dudes right elbow threw me off. Makes it look like large 12" tiles. Mike, you can kiss my ass for that La Jolla comment. Aside from my childhood address, there is very little about me that is typical La Jolla.
