How did You Quit Smoking

I quit... Cold turkey...
Of course it took me a long time to win...One here and there when my nerves got shot... But I think I have kicked it now. The last time I wanted one was on our trip to Montana...I was scared about the drift boat fishing down the river. Dennis told me there was a 30' drop that we had to go over, I am afraid of the water... I sorta got nervous - But Bruce being the good person that he is would not give me one...

Of course I don't drink anymore... That helps too

I got a wicked cold and cicarrettes tasted really bad. Cold hung on long enough to defeat the addiction. Just lucky on my part. It was harder to quit weed.

Quit cold turkey about 7 years ago and haven't touched one since. It was pretty tough the 1st month and a half but after that it was smooth sailing.

I quit cold about 3 years ago and it is rough if you have a beer or after a big meal . Cigs actually were making me sick when I lit up so I guess it was my body telling me to stop . Good luck , if you set your mind to it you will quit that nasty habit !

One thing that helped me was a couple of my "friends" telling me that there was no way I could give them up.......became a challenge for me. I proved them wrong.

If you don't want to quit nothing will work......period

Just tell your self "I don't do that anymore" and quit

it's tough but if you want to you will get through it.

Plus a pack a day is about the same as a 5 dayer!

I gave up one addiction for another..... I chew Skoal now. It's more of a pain in the ass than anything, and I can't even finish one can a week. It's alot different than smoking, since it's less socially acceptable, it's one of those things I can really only do when I'm fishing or hunting.

Cold turkey over here also. It's been 1 year, and 9 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, 4 hours, 2 minutes, and 6 seconds, but who's counting. I carried around a pack in my pocket for the first two weeks. I figured that I would pull one out and smoke it before I would go to jail for killing someone. I lucked out and it didn't happen, and I am smoke free today. That doesn't mean that I don't still crave one from time to time. I sure miss them when I'm up in the helm driving the boat late at night. I'm sure Saluki feels a lot safer that I'm not puffing away at night, heading for the tuna grounds, around all those gas cans while he's sleeping. Like Shelly said, it's a lot easer to not smoke, now that I don't drink anymore.

You really got to want it, acknowledge how disgusting it is and how bad it is for you. Some smokers act like it's a fucking joke, I did for over 10 years. Two of my Grandparent's have died from lung cancer and my Dad's best friend's wife just fell by the way side as well. It's really crazy watching someone in they're mid-50s die so fast...

I chewed the gum for a couple months but ended up strung out on it. Went cold turkey after that and have been good for three years.
