T-Shirt Size: XL, man, it seems like they’re making T shirts smaller these days.

Pantyhose Size: XL, control top, I don’t like panty lines.

Website Address: none

Location: Born in Torrance, Live in Laguna Niguel.

What was your first boat?
The first Boat I ever fished on was the City of Redondo.
The first boat I owned was a 1996, 21ft Ultra, Open Bow with a Jet. (I know, it’s not a fishing boat, but I have caught bluegill and stripers on it).

How many days do you average on the water a year?
Who knows?, maybe 30.

How long have you been Fly Fishing?
I’d say about 12yrs or so. My Brother got me into it.

Click the image to open in full size.

How high have you placed at the Double Haul?
I entered it in 2003 with my brother and I took 5th place. Dave got 4th place and together, we won 1st place in the team event. We had a blast and we didn’t even use a boat to travel between the different fishing areas. We won a trip to The Big K Ranch in Oregon. Awesome smallmouth fishing.

You’re going to fish it next year right??? Absolutely! I had to take this year off because we were expecting our boy around that time.

What is the best Midge color that you have used at Crowley?
I like the green power bait with sparkle. Ooops, you can’t go wrong with Black body and Silver wire, size 16 seems to work well for me.

Have you ever fished Laguna Niguel? What is your favorite Midge color there:
I’ve fished there a few times. It’s funny, I live within walking distance to that lake, but I don’t fish it that often. Maybe this year I’ll go more often. I don’t have a favorite midge color there? Drop me an email if you’re going there.

How long have you been fishing?
Probably 34 years or so. Man, I’m getting old.

What was the first fish you ever caught? Where?
I’ve narrowed it down to either barred surf perch off Newport pier or Blue perch from the City of Redondo half day boat. I really can’t remember for sure.

Tell us something that you don’t tell to many people.
I like the smell of my own,,,,, Never mind!

What is one thing you have learned from fishing?
I learned it was a great way to have fun while still having your pants on.

Do you have any advice to future fishermen?
Get involved with your sport. There are so many groups out there trying to limit our ability to fish. Nobody likes politics but we need to get united. Voice your opinion to the politicians that you want the right to fish in the future.

What is YOUR favorite species to catch?
Trout from my float tube, followed closely by Tuna from long range boats like the Shogun.

Click the image to open in full size.

Favorite place to fish with Tips to share with other members:
Lake Crowley. Look outside the box. Just because everyone is packed in an area doing the same thing, doesn’t mean you can’t have success doing something else. If that doesn’t work, hire a guide for a day, that’s what I did years ago and it paid off.

What is most ridicules thing you have ever seen happen on a boat?
I saw a deckhand pull a torpedo sinker out of the throat of a potential jackpot winning bonito once. That guy was so embarrassed, I thought he was going to jump over and swim to shore.

Do you have any kick ass trips planned?
Right now I don’t, but I’ve got my eye on a couple things. Next year I want to try Pyramid Lake and Henry’s for sure.

Type of Gear you use:
I use shimano reels and seeker and cal star rods in salt water. For fly fishing I use Lamson Litespeed and Ross Evolution reels. I’ve got a few Sage and St Croix Rods.

Click the image to open in full size.

Cigars? It’s been a while, but I’ll burn one on occasion.

Favorite Drink? I’ll enjoy a cold beverage once in awhile.

Click the image to open in full size.

Boxers or briefs or thong?
Boxers when I where them. I like that free feeling.

If you could take one rig on a TUNA trip what would it be?
That’s a tough one. I’d say a 30 Tiagra with lots of Spectra and a Short top shot. I’m not up on all the Current rod numbers, but I like 6ft rods.

Have you ever dyed your hair? Yeah when I was 17 , but I hate to admit it.

Do you play video games?
If Texas hold em is a video game, then yes. But I suck at most video games.

Brand of toothpaste: Pepsodent all the way!

THIS ONE NEEDS TO BE ANSWERED:Yes or No. Do you know what a WaaTooSee is?
I always thought it was a dance? Who knows?

Do you like goats? Be honest.
I love goats! I like them the best when they’re grilling on my barbeque!

If you could be a fishing guide anywhere in the world…
Where would you be and what would you fish for?

Another tough question. I love trout fishing, so I’d say West Yellowstone. That town is right in the middle of dozens of awesome rivers and some great stillwater lakes. It’s not far from Henry’s and Hebgen Lake.

With all of the fishing boards around now- I am sure you have met more fishermen than you would have without the boards. What has been the most memorable experience in dealing with another fisherman from the internet?
I enjoyed fishing with you and Bruce at Crowley this year.

What is one weakness of yours?
I’ll keep this rated G and say Rocky Road Ice Cream.

Click the image to open in full size.

Wanna tell us about your family?
I’m married and my wife and I just had our first baby this October. His name is Dean and I can’t wait to take him fishing with me.

Click the image to open in full size.

Do you own a dog/pet?
I’ve got a great Dog named Abby. I took her to Crowley this year and she got so excited when she saw a trout that she jumped overboard trying to get at it. It was hilarious.

What is your favorite type of music to listen to?

I like a lot of it. I like Green Day, Foo Fighters, Smogtown, Social D, stuff like that. I’m not that particular. I’ll listen to country and even hip hop stuff once in awhile.

Do you have any other hobbies- when fishing is not happinin? Absolutely, I like to go to the River and relax. We’re also into Desert camping and riding quads. I like to get out of town every chance I get. I hate crowds!

Furthest distance ever fished off shore?
That’s an easy one. Last December with Bruce on the Shogun. We went to Hurricane Bank and had an awesome catch of Yellow Fin Tuna. That was my best long trip ever.

Click the image to open in full size.

What would your "DREAM BOAT" be?
Well, since I can’t afford a long range boat, I’d have to say a Davis Boat would be nice.

Dream destination: Long Range trip when the Big-uns are biting.

If you could live any life style any where – what would it be?
Since it doesn’t look like I’m going to be a Rock Star any time soon, I’m pretty stoked on my life style right now.

Do you think it is a good ideal to have more women involved with fishing? Be honest- I can't ban you.
Of course, I wish my wife would get more involved with fishing, that would be awesome.

Click the image to open in full size.

What is the craziest fishing thing that has ever happened while being on the water?
I’ve seen some funny stuff. Once while fishing at Otay in San Diego, I hooked and brought in a rod and reel that my friend had lost 2 months before on a big Largemouth.

Has there ever been a life turning experience happen to you while being on the water? Or has something just scared the hell out of you while being on the water?
I got a little haired out once while float tubing at Eagle Lake in December when it got rough and windy. Nothing too radical.

So would you rather be on a boat fishing at Clipperton Island wide open bite or be fed grapes by 13 Naked Hot Wild Horney Women?
Clipperton!

Who turned you on to bloodydecks.com? How did you find us?
That would be TunaFvr himself, Bruce Smith.

If you won 5 million $$$ how would you spend it?
First, I’d dial in my family members by paying off their houses and helping them out. Then I’d quit my job and start traveling to awesome fishing locations. I’d buy a nice place somewhere in Montana and another place in Arizona. I’d also give some to charity.

Click the image to open in full size.

Who would be your favorite cabana girl?
Kathy Monaco, the Brunette who was on that dancing show recently.

What do you want to catch this season?
Lots of quality trout, some Wahoo and of course, big Yellowfin.

If there is one question you can ask any Member of Bloodydecks, who would you ask and what would the question be?
I’d like to ask the shark, How did you get into fishing?, What type of trips do you like to take and what trips do you have planned?

Click the image to open in full size.

Jeff-
It has been fun fishing with you and getting to know you. I know Bruce and Dennis think the world of you.
Congrats on your new baby to you and your wife.
I hope you join us next year at Henry's & The DoubleHaul.
You are quite the fisherman!

To answer the question directed at me:
My parents started me fishing at a real young age, preschool. When my parents divorced, I think I was 4 or so, both kept me fishing while growing up.
My Daddy would keep me fishing in the Oregon rivers and some lakes.
My Mom kept me fishing in California- Salt N Sea (spelling) and local lakes.

A special friend got me into offshore years ago and I now have found fly fishing thanks to Bruce. It is a world that will never stop for me. There is always more to learn.

As for trips planned… Wow I am hoping to get us up to fish with Tom Loe, Sierra Drifters Guide Service, for a Drift boat trip late January up north. We are planning on Pyramid in March-April and Duck Lake in May – depending on the ice off.

I have had 3 invites to fish the Shogun with David – Wahoodad, and have never been able to make any of those trips.
I hope someday to fish this boat long range. When I grow up.

Thank you Jeff- you have made a great Member Of The Week for us!!!
See you soon
Shelly

Re: Meet #77 hookup66!

Nice read, Jeff! Hey, another Torrance boy. Born and raise there myself; went to THS, class of 85. Small world.

I haven't fly fished in years but I'm tempted. Have to draw the line at float tubing in trout waters... BRRRRR!!!!!!

Looked like a shot of a tuna on a fly... there a story to go with that?

Re: Meet #77 hookup66!

I got the flyrod Yellowfin while on a Long Range trip last December on the Shogun. We were at Hurricane Bank. In the early a.m. the Skipper Bruce (aka TunaFvr) sees a school of Dorado hanging near the boat. He breaks out his fly rod and asks if I want to give it a try. I cast out and hooked the yellowfin instead. I learned pretty quick that even a small yellowfin pulls like hell on a fly rod. It was great.
