100 Americans or 100 deaths? Still, the kidnapping thing is more than a little bit disturbing. Especially if you are a gringo with a 200 thousand dollar RV or boat.
FUCK THAT........

It sounds like the worst of it is in the border towns in Texas, looks like the drug cartels are fighting for control.

Gotta love Google.
According to a report, U.S. Citizen Deaths From Non-Natural Causes, By Foreign Country, there were some interesting revelations:
"In 2003, the first full year for which homicides figures are recorded, a total of 42 U.S citizens were murdered in Mexico, the report shows. A total of 18 homicides that year occurred along the U.S.-Mexican border. In 2004, through Dec. 31, a total of 35 U.S. citizens were murdered in Mexico, with 17 of those homicides occurring along the border. That’s right. The murder rate actually dropped between 2003 and 2004", reports Bill Conroy.

Violence in north Mexico has soared this year, leaving at least 600 dead. MEXICO CITY, Mexico (Reuters) -- The United States renewed a travel warning on Tuesday for U.S. citizens crossing the border into Mexico, noting more than 100 murders had occurred in the border region since June.
The murdered Victims Citizenship isn't noted in the text I read. It does However state that there have Been 600 murders this year alone. Thats a hell of a lot of murders, considering the fact that we're in the 7th month of 2005

Mexico is still a relatively safe place to travel, considering the large numbers of Americans who live and travel there. Baja norte and sur are probably two of the safest.

Gentlemen, the "100" figure includes the deaths of migrants that occurred during illegal border crossings.

| I'm looking forward to fishing (and the good ole US)
I am sitting in an airport in Muscat, Oman writing this and am ready to come kill some fish. Been working in Masirah for about 2 weeks now...Hotter than shit, humid as shit, and the friggin wind blows 24 hours a day. I can't wait to get back to the SoCal and to go fishing. Every chance I got to log onto the internet I would check out BD and see the local fishing reports. Looks like things are picking up and I didn't miss too much...can't wait to get a stick in my hand.
