| I did not know this.
Don't know if its accurate.
DO YOU KNOW...
the difference between margarine and butter?
Read on to the end...it gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories.
Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams
compared to
5 grams.
Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53%
over eating the same amount of butter,
according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Eating butter increases the absorption
of many other nutrients
in other foods.
Butter has many nutritional benefits
where margarine has a few only
because they are added!
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors
of other foods.
Butter has been around for centuries
where margarine has been around
for less than 100 years.
And now! , for Margarine...
Very high in trans fatty acids...
Triple risk of coronary heart disease..
Increases total cholesterol and LDL
(this is the bad cholesterol)
Lowers HDL cholesterol,
(the good cholesterol) ....
Increases the risk of cancers by up to five fold...
Lowers quality of breast milk...
Decreases immune response...
Decreases insulin response.
And here is the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY
INTERESTING!
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE
away from being PLASTIC..
This fact alone was enough to have me
avoiding margarine for life
and anything else
that is hydrogenated
(this means hydrogen is added,
changing the molecular structure
of the substance).
YOU can try this yourself:
purchase a tub of margarine
and leave it in your garage
or
shaded area.
Within a couple of days
you will note a couple of things:
no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it
(that should tell you something) ...
it does not rot or smell differently..
because it has no nutritional value,
nothing will grow on it...
even those teeny weeny microorganisms
will not a find a home to grow.
Why?
Because it is nearly plastic.
Would you melt your Tupperware
and
spread that on your toast?

Where did this info come from?
I use to swear by it because I thought it was better for me. Inthe last year or so, I felt like I had been indulging and using butter instead. Little did I know I was actually eating healthier!
I'm having popcorn tonight with a shitload of butter on it now!

I am, however, gonna toss my $5 tub of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" and go back to real butter. Shit, I only stopped using butter cause I thought it was bad for me.

My better half is a complete health nut so I know some of this stuff- but I did not know margarine is only one molecule awayfrom being plastic.
Basic way to know if something is healthy: if processed by man don't eat it!
Eat foods as close to there natural state for best health- Freash Caught Albacore Tuna High In Omega Oils (Human antioxident)

No shit. Just heard on the news today that cow's milk doesn't do anything for a healthy body. Doesn't help your bones, doesn't help your teeth. Just waiting for the report that says tobaccy and alcohol will increase your life span.

No matter what any of these things come out with I have always felt it is better to eat the natural foods but in moderation.
My grandmother ate butter, had a small glass of sherry each night and ate a normal midwestern diet her entire life.............she lived to be 102 and only died because she got tired and stopped eating altogether.......just tired and all her generation had passed away.
Her mother lived to be 98. Her brother lived to be 99. Her sister lived to be 96.
All of them ate natural foods in moderation, none were fat, none were rail thin.
My mother ate margerine, diet this and that and had cancer 4 times but lived to be 83 before it got her the last time.
For me its butter, mayo, real milk, half & half in my coffee with real sugar.
Never could stand diet anything, tastes like crap!!!
Even though I will probebly die at 50 I will have enjoyed and not skimped on anything!!
...................wheres that ice cream????
Aloha!

| Cow's Milk?
The Cow's milk we know usually comes from Gurnsey Cows. Gurnseys are used because they make a lot of milk, not because the milk tastes good. It wouldn't matter anyway because after the cow is milked the 2% to 4% fat milk is then dehydrated with the fat and the other components of the milk separated. Then the left over powders are used to make milk by-products such as butter, cottage cheese, etc. Then you add some vitamin A, vitamin D, calcium, niacin, and whatever else the government has required. Oh, and if you want to make it "skim" milk you do not add any fat. If you want to make it 1% or 2% fat milk you add back the fat accordingly. Then you "homogenize" the milk, or mix it up so it doesn't separate. The term "Skim" milk comes from the old days when milk was allowed to sit and the fat would rise to the top where it was skimmed off and used to make butter, cottage cheese, etc., the way our Grandmothers used to do it. And if this isn't enough for you look into what we do to sugar before it hits our tables!
Enough of this already. Lets go fishing!

Interesting read. I have not eaten margarine for some time because I had heard it was worse for you than butter. Good to see it in writing. Thanks for that bit!
