Quick question and if anyone has an answer it would help, my daughter has never gotten the regular flu shot before will she need this before she gets the H1N1 shot? Of course we will also talk to her doctor about this.
Thanks guys | Travis ~
This is what I was told at the location I went to this morning. They said it did not matter whether a person had the regular flu shot or not. I had my daughter get both shots this morning which they charged a $10.00 fee for the regular shot and the H1N1 shot was free.
Why is it that you have to wait until your son is born to get the shot?

They would have to knock me out and tie me down to take that freaking shot. I've never had a flu shot and never will. My kids, Though grown and gone never did either. I personally dont believe that what most people have, Is anything more than the good old seasonal flu. I wonder why the government is declaring it an emergency? Couldnt have anything to do with what they're trying to ram through, Could it?
If the government says I need something, Fuck em, I aint taking it.
And Mike, I very rarely agree with Marcus or Stan, But asking for medical advice for your kids, On bloodydecks, Is just stupid

Because the amount of vaccines that are being shipped in are minimal (At least thats what they are telling us) and are reserved for children and prego moms. When my son is born I would be allowed because he would be to young to get it, hence allowing everyone in the household to get it instead. At least that's what I was told.

And Mike, I very rarely agree with Marcus or Stan, But asking for medical advice for your kids, On bloodydecks, Is just stupid | Bill ~ I understand how you feel about the shot... honestly I do, as I am a guy who has never received a flu shot either, and I pretty much never go to the doctor for nothing unless it becomes something very severe..... I wont even take an asprin unless something becomes just too unbearable.
On the issue with me seeking Medical advise though, that is silly to say that I shouldn't. Can one of you guys explain to me why I should not? I don't think many of you guys realize the rarity of my daughter disease.
What I am doing is trying (as slim as it may be) to possibly seek out a doctor who may possibly be familiar with this disease, or quite possibly even someone who has this disease or even someone with a kid locally who may be going through the same thing.
Sure it's a grasp, and a large one at that. But I'll take that ever so slight possibility that it may possibly lead to something, but to not ask nothing on a board viewed by possibly thousands..... well that would just leave me right where I started, and that is what truly would be stupid!
I'm not asking for some stranger to come and perform surgery on my child.... I'm asking for the chance to hear from somebody who may be familuar with my daughter condition and what their thoughts are on getting this shot, and so far, even at the clinic today, they had no clue about this disease.

| What is Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS)? Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare disorder in which a person’s own immune system damages the nerve cells, causing muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis. GBS can cause symptoms that last for a few weeks or several months. Most people recover fully from GBS, but some people have permanent nerve damage. In rare cases, people have died of GBS, usually from difficulty with breathing. In the United States, for example, an estimated 3,000 to 6,000 people develop GBS each year on average, whether or not they received a vaccination. This is about 1 to 2 cases of GBS per 100,000 people. What causes GBS?
Scientists do not fully understand what causes GBS, but it is believed that stimulation of the body’s immune system may play a role in its development. Here’s what scientists know for sure: About two-thirds of people who develop GBS symptoms do so several days or weeks after they have been sick with a diarrheal or respiratory illness. Infection with the bacterium Campylobacter jejuni is one of the most common risk factors for GBS. People can also develop GBS after having the flu or other infections (such as cytomegalovirus and Epstein Barr virus). On very rare occasions, they may develop GBS in the days or weeks following receiving a vaccination. Who is at risk for developing GBS?
Anyone can develop GBS, but it is more common among adults than children. The incidence of GBS increases with age, and people over age 50 are at greatest risk for developing GBS. Each year, on average, about 3,000 to 6,000 people in the United States develop GBS whether or not they received a vaccination – that’s 1 to 2 people out of every 100,000 people. Do vaccines cause GBS? It is not fully understood why some people develop GBS, but it is believed that the nerve cells are damaged by a person’s own immune system. Many types of infections, and in very rare cases vaccines, may activate the immune system to cause damage to the nerve cells.

The picture on the left in the link was taken shorty after she had a tiny piece of chocolate and had a reaction. With her condition she has red marks covering much of her body, and any rubbing, too much heat, insect bites, certain foods, or a number of other things can trigger a bad reaction where she will welt up, and in a extreme case it can become life threatening which thankfully has never happened and hopefully never does. http://www.halibutclassic.com/sitebu...iles/masto.pdf
Debi, assuming your boys are under 25, you can get them the shot right now.... it was pretty easy for me this morning and only took about an hour.
The unknown fisherman | I'm going to try and find a place here to get it vs waiting for my doctor to have it available..I worked in and operating room for 10 years, I used to get shots/vaccinations for lots of things, and never got sick..if someone got sick from a vaccinations I would say it was something already brewing prior to the shot..not saying in all cases and it is possible for someone to have an allergic reaction to an additive in the vaccination..but they make this vaccination just like all the other vaccinations made, it's a dead virus, impossible to become alive again once it hits the bloodstream..look at the chicken pox vaccination..my oldest so almost died from chicken pox when he was a toddler, thank god now they have the vaccination for that, my youngest 3 have all been vaccinated against the chicken pox, and one less virus I have to worry about.

I look at it this way, if I ended up getting just one doctor who quite possibly knew about this disease my daughter has, or possibly someone viewing this who knows of such a doctor and they contacted me by PM with some info which I could then verify this person was legit........ well let me tell you, that would be priceless.
It may not happen, in fact it probably wont, but the fact is it may, and that's what matters most to me right now.
