| Lost my hunting partner this a AM
Felt a cold nose this morning, Dizzy (my Lab) wanted to go out... or at least I thought that's what she wanted. Let her out and about 5 min. later I heard scratching against the patio room? Dam dog. Got back up to yell at her. To my supprise she was having a seizure! She has epolespy(sp) and has been on downers to control it. They work pretty good but.... this time it couldn't control it. Talk about feeling helpless! A bunch $$ and vets told me pretty much the same thing, You can't do anything until its over. Waited 10 mins. and she seemed ok. She got up and wandered around not knowing what the fuck just happened, didn't know who I was.... wierd shit! She hadn't had one for about 6 months.
I thought I'd let her wander around the yard until she stopped seeing double, then see how she was doing, usually takes about 4 days until she fully recovers, wierd shit!
My 9 yr. old daughter comes in a little later and tells us she's having another one! What the fuck? This all started @0600, it was now 0730... really wierd. I was getting concerned and would call the vet at 8 when they opened for some help. She was really freaking out, shitting all over herself, frothing @ the mouth and had bitten her tounge and was bleeding pretty good.
Now I'm really getting freaked out, she never has been this bad. She's only 3.5 years old, best retreiver I've ever been around!!! Decided to change and get her into the vet... right now! Go out back and shes barley moving... good, she's over it... cool.... I bend down to pick her up and she stops breathing! FUCK. I do everything I've ever heard of to bring her back around but her eyes are already fogging over.
I was pretty much a wreck for the next hour or 5, or the rest of the day.
The vet asked me if I wanted an autopsy and I said no but he did one any way...free. Could not find anything wrong with her. Said it was probably a brain thing. (didn't say it like that but I thought I'd cut it short)
There's more to her "condition" but I don't feel like explaining right now.
Bitchen friend and one hell of a duck dog! She will be missed!
Mike

That's exactly what it is.
Really sorry, bro...
Took me 5 years to be able to get another one after my last go-round.
Now I've got my chocolate lab and I know I'm gonna be there again some day.

Mike,
My condolences.......... I know how this one is.
Both of mine are in their last season, & I don't look forward to what is in store over the next year or so.
Dave

| Very very sorry
Man this post brings back painfull memories.
I lost the best dog I have ever had over a year ago after 13years of companionship. My daughter who is 3 now still asks about him constantly, and I still have not brought myself to replacing him yet.
Hang tough bro!

Sorry bro. That really sucks.
Not that you're in the mood to think about it right now, but ulitmifitm over on AMS has about a 3 month old lab/goldie mix that he's lookin to place in a good home for free. Maybe worth thinking about.
