You just need a USB audio interface to get the files into your computer. After that you can use itunes or whatever you normally use. The interface is the key. They aren't vert expensive. The Apple one is called an iMic.

Which Tascam 8 track do you have? If its digital like say a 788 the best way is to burn the raw wav forms to CD and then add them to whatever software you use for recording or mixing. I think the best way to line up each track is to record a hand clap or snap to all 8 tracks at once in front of the music and then you can use that as a referance in your editing software..

Whoops too slow you need an analog to digital converter like John is talking about. I think there are some free options out there for editing software. I mostly use sound forge or wavelab.

Quality is only as good as your original.

Google "USB audio interface". They are not expensive. Fry's will have them.

There are plenty of reasonably priced usb versions online or you can probably find a good one on Ebay. I have a M audio that is a few years old now but I'd do a search online read a few reviews to see whats good now. As far as quality goes you want a high sampling rate and a brand name like MOTU, M audio or Presonus. You also need to look at whether you want to just overdub or record lots of instuments at once. If you do want to live record your band or do lots of drum micing then you need a lot of inputs.

Oh and by the way the transfer quality great it there is basically no loss from your original.
