Mammoth is sick.
I haven't boarded in 2 years now and I'm dying to get up there.
I have a brand new Sims Daytona 172 powder gun I need to ride.
Let's go Jason.

I scored last year finally at Mamoth. First BIG dump of the year and the first 2 days we boarded in a blizzered. The last day not a single cloud in the sky, no wind, 2.5' good Pow pow and they opened the top for the first time that year and it was a Monday. Dam we scored. I normally get packed ice to slush to packed ice. I finally got Mamoth good.
I like Summit when its packed ice that way I can land in the flats over the wise man half cart wheel windows rolling up intoxicated land on my shoulder/head and get knocked out. Thats fun.

Look at today's daily pic. The original opening day was supposed to be Nov. 11 but rumor has it they will probably open earlier now. |

Ski or board Lincoln Mt chair 22 when it is white out conditions or windy. So many people dont take that chair and it is sweet.Any one of the runs from the sun bowl, avalance chutes or right down under the chair are great runs. The sun bowl probably gives the most protection from the elements and there are tons of great shots, rocks to bail off of, and bitchen glade tree skiing.
Dont forget chair 9 and parts of Dragon's back when searching for inclement weather spots.
Hey Brad arent those right place at the right time days awesome.During the 98 el nino the top had been closed for almost a week. They finally opened chair 23 and my son and I were within the first 20 people to go up.We made so many untouched runs down wipe out and drop out in waist deep pow pow.Deffiently the best day I ever had on a board.
Do any of your guys remember a bar/resturant called the Rafters? This is old school Mammoth days, early eighties.I use to live right accross the street in the Sierra Manors condo's.My god the Coke that use to blow around in there and i am not talking Rum and Coke.Man thinking about it I wish I could remember those days.haha

I would be surprised if they didn't open a little earlier.
Brad- I was up there one year when we got snowed in for a couple of days, oh damn... It dumped 8' in two and a half days. The only thing running was the gondola because the chairs were burried. Straight Powder for 2 days. It was SILENT on the mountain because the snow was soooo soft. Just sick.
JAck - I remember the Rafters, It's still there I think under a different name. We tried to eat there a few years ago but they lagged so bad we walked out. Booger sugar blizzards huh?

Jack - I remember the Rafters back in the 80's. My best friend's family had a place at the Mammoth Ski and Raquet Club right by Warming Hut II...we used to go up there all the time. Those were some crazy days (and nights)!! Full white out blizzard! By the way, I noticed in your profile that you and I were born on the same day...interesting factoid.
