I need your suggestions please

I will buying prescription sunglasses soon, and really would like to know where to go and exactly what I need to do.

I already have my prescription so that is all good, but the rest of this stuff is new to me.

Do I go out and find some sunglasses that are good quaility and have good frames and I like the style, and then purchase them and have the prescription lenses put in??

I really am not even sure where to begin on this, and I am pretty damn picky when it comes to shades, as I hate wearing shades with a passion, so I figure I better make sure I get something comfortable and what looks good too.

Ok guys, where do I go, what do I do, and who would you recommend?? Also what sort of prices am I looking at??

Give me some idea's.

Thanks!!!!

The unknown fisherman :p

that what i did, went out found a set of shades that i felt comfy with and liked, then i checked if they could be turned into prescription. handed the stuff over to the tech and voila.

try the guys behind the sports arena right at the corner, i believe you can see their red sign from the 8 going east. damn cool guys and good prices. ask for al or sammy.

been getting my stuff from them for years. just a word of warning al is naturally hyper, the dude is not on speed or anythin', just go with the flow.

one place you may want to check out is the above. you will need to get yer peepers checked by their optomotrist (sp?), but its very affordable, and they do have a pretty good selection of shades there as well.

for frames- i got me last pair of shades at sunglass warehouse (the place behind sports arena). very good prices, and they will discount *non-sale* items....you just gotta ask! done this twice over the last 3 years, and have not regretted going to them. check out vaurnette catfish frames if you want wrap arounds. less than 100 doll hairs (like $60 for non-polarized, $80 for polarized) and worth every penny!

I don't think these guy's do prescription but since we are talking shades here is a company that has very reasonable MSRP. Some are dorky but some are cool. I think the Guide Line (blue water) are sweat, super light weight cant even tell your wearing them good polarized shades. You loose them its not going to cost you allot to replace them and the quality is really there.

Don't Laugh...

...Try Wal-Mart. Our local Wal-Mart has an optometry section and they do prescription sunglasses at about a third of the price my optometrist does. Name brand frames and all! It won't hurt near as bad when you drop them overboard.

I have asked them to send me thier dealer list for SD. I will get back to you dude.

The blue waters in Copper really light up stuff when its overcast or dark. Check the price too not bad at all. I have a big head and they fit great.

Mike, I have been wearing glasses most of my life, and allways had two pair with me all the time, a pair of clear and sunglasses. This year I was in Jackson Hole at the Orvis Fly fishing shop, and I saw a pair of the polorized clip ons, regularly $80.00, they had them on sell for around $35.00, I bought a pair and I just love them, they are light and easy to put in your pocket, or take out when you need them. You might want to look at something like this before you invest in big bucks for an extra pair of glasses. Just my .02

Check Orvis on line for the description on these.
