| A Note to Dad
Man, forty years goes fast. Dads hug your kids, kids cherish your dads....
Dad I hardly knew you,
When your time on earth was through.
We missed so many memories,
To early an adieu.
I have so many questions,
That I'd like to ask of you.
I guess the most important one
Is, am I just like you?
I wish we could go fishing,
What was your favorite knot?
Did you love the ocean?
What fish would we have caught?
So many different questions
Come flooding to my mind
Am I just as caring?
Am I just as kind?
I'm trying to be strong,
Just like you told me too.
I'm trying to be just like the man,
I never really knew.
Right now my tears are falling
Thinking of you in this way,
Daddy I still l miss you.
Happy father’s day

At least you got to know your for a little while, other never even got to meet there dad before he died.
Thanks for that letter/ poame, also made my eyes tear up a little and wish that my kid won't have these thoughts and won't have to write a letter like that.

Thats quite a good poem. I lost my dad in 1966 in a car accident. I was eight. I can remember fishing with him once and hunting twice. Not alot of memories for me of my dad. I have made sure that my son have lots of good memories though. |
