PS The Q105 added a RSW (refrigerated sea water) hold this year.
This should be the FIRST trip to the Hurricane Bank this fall.
PPS Regrettably, Loftus & Martin are no longer associated with this trip. They are concentrating their efforts on their January 2009 trip on the Q105. If you have time in January (10th-25th), check their trip out.

Alex, great news for you. I know you've had more than your fair share of cancelled trips. This one should be the first trip to the Bank for the fleet? Looking at the dates, it has the potential to give new and vibrant meaning to the term HURRICANE Bank.

Yup Steve, we should be 8 days ahead of the RRIII. They have a long wait list for that trip. As far as the weather is concerned, the RRIII has been able to get out there without any problems for the last few years and they have had some really great catches. The trip should sell out fast.

Being there first could mean some stellar wahoo fishing. Sound like a great opportunity and weather is usually quite nice in October. Great fishing platform. I envy all of you making this trip. Should be awsome. Maybe a stop at the grouper patch on the way home for good measure. I'm sure the give-aways will be great too.

Yes Joe, the trip is starting to fill. Anyone interested in going needs to call the Qualifier 105 office ASAP. Wish you could go with us. Loftus & Martin are back from thier RRIII trip and are actively working on filling this one. Don't wait.

Wow! What a show! Fred Hall 2008 seemed a little down on attendance, but our Oct 11-26, 15-day on the Q105 is almost filled up. If you are interested in going on this trip, get in touch with the Q105 office soon. The trip only had a few spaces left as of Saturday night. The last spots will probably go by Del Mar FHS. Don't be left out!

Gas to an from for me 100 pre grear that we buy thats not needed. 300 (in my case because I need it) . That comes to pretty close to 7grand. Not saying I have never spent that kind of money an trips. But I for one do not enjoy spending 4/5 days going an comming home an only fishing say 8 days. Yes its great to be with good friends, bs, learn new knots, different shortcuts. and get a buzz going with your friends. But lets face it, its BORING just riding that many days when you can't fish. That equates to just about $600 per day, Sure its a great bonding experience, get away relaxation. But I myself if going to spend that type of money, would rather go to PV, with Fishy Mel, Jim hall an wifes and can spend (2) weeks in luxury condo everynite, hit the bars great food also, an fish everyother day for at least 6 days. Granted its a great platform and crew, But I can find better things to do
Hollywood | You need to get out and fish more, your starting to sound like a grumpy old fucker...
Where you been Ray, Howz life? Lets get out to Mead before it gets too hot.

Turning grumpy myself, but I've been wanting to hit that first trip on the Rooster for years. I'm going. This is going to be a bit spendy but like my buddy Glenn says "what do you have to take with you besides your memories?" My deposit is in, I'm going.

I gotta agree with Ray......there are other options for 6 to 7 large.
Hell....I could do Costa Rica or Fiji for that and have a great time besides this whole permit thing is a joke......... 65-70 bucks for an excursion permit for 5 days or longer on a sportfisher but we get hit for 20.00 per day and 6 to 7 of those days are non fishing days.
I love to fish long but there comes a point when marginal cost versus marginal benefit comes into play.
I could do a couple of 10 days and have a great time for that cash and still take more fish than I could eat in a year.
Have fun and take lots of pictures...........

Yes, spendy. But not that much more than going to PV or Fiji. The room and food are included, you get a WHOLE lot more fishing time, and you get to bring home as much fish as you want. Your fish processing bill is only as big as you want it to be. The 105 crew has no problem releasing fish. Also, the cost for extra baggage needs to be factored in and you will need to lug your gear down (if you want to use your own) or bring fish home. If you fly, there is still parking to pay for and/or a taxi fare. If you go to other destinations, there are no raffle giveaways and only minimal jackpots. Long range fishing is expensive, but not that bad a deal. Also, in PV, you go out with 2-4 people and one guy hooks up, the other guys have to sit and wait 1-2 hrs for the fish to be landed. Really cuts into the fishing time.
Ten day trips are no better. You get roughly 5 days of actual fishing time and 5 days of travel IF you don't move around a lot. If they "run & gun", same thing. A handful of guys hook-up and the rest have to sit and wait for the last fish to be landed. Two 10-day trips cost more than one 15 day trip too. Crew tip X 2, Fuel Surcharge X 2, parking X 2, etc. On a 15-day Hurricane bank trip, you have 7 days of travel and 8 days of actual "on the anchor" fishing time in an area known for big fish. If the bank is slow, there is the area outside the buffer zone of Clarion Island.
Good fishing,
