Special Event for Bloodydeckers - Captain Ron Freelance Variety Show to Descanso!

While on a trip on the Point Loma this Sunday with Captain Ron Baker, he told me about some recent trips to Descanso where he found some spots holding a large variety of bigger-model fish. Since I had never heard of Descanso, I asked about a trip there to check it out and he offered to schedule a trip and make it for bloodydeckers and their guests as an event. Captain Ron has been there on 3 trips recently for some phenomenal fishing! I caught my first halibut and my first yellowfin tuna on various trips this past year with Captain Ron. He knows how to find the fish and make it a fun trip!

DETAILS:

WHEN: Sunday, October 18th, leaves at 5:30 am and returns late at night, no set time

WHERE: Descanso - about 30 miles south of San Diego off the Mexican coast. A 3 hour trip each way on the Point Loma for the best shallow-water fishing on the coast!

TARGET: Fish-a-plenty! LARGE-SIZED yellowtail, WSB, Bonita, Rockcod, Lings, Reds, Browns, Sheepheads, Halibut, Calico

WHO: Bloodydeckers and their guests, max of 20 people. This will be a potluck event, sodas/water will be provided.

COST: $100/person includes Mexican permit. (RSVP Required to hold your spot)

HOW: Call the landing to book your reservation at: 619/223-1627 while spots are available!

p.s. This is NOT a BD sponsored event, it's just something Captain Ron thought would be a fun trip to open to BDers and their guests.

when Maggie came out tuna fishing last Sun I was telling her of a new spot to me that I made a few trips to, Descanso Bay. I told of how good the fishing was there and what an assortment of GUAILITY fish that we caught on the trips. I have never fished there before but on a freelance trip a month or so ago I took 16 novice to med. fishing skilled pass. 30 miles down the coast on the F/V Point Loma to check this spot out that I heard so much about from some of my old school peers. Fishing was excellent with a huge variety of fish and they were all big from halibut, Yellowtail, wsb, bonita, calico bass, sand bass, big sheephead, 5 to 8lb reds, big lings, johnny bass, brown rock fish that are dying of old age and you name it. Maggie thought that would be a fun trip so we decided to try and put together a BD trip. This is going to be fun and a great source of info for you skiff guys that want to learn a new spot to add to your log book. I've gone there two times since that first trip and it's been Katy Bar the Door all three trips and I have found so many new spots. Gonna be fun. Call Point Loma Sportfishing for res. for the Descanso Freelance Oct 18th. Time to rip some lips

Cool! This is going to be a great trip!

I found out that we cannot cook on the grill ourselves due to liability but we can all bring potluck stuff anyways. I'm not sure what I'll be bringing yet. There is a microwave avail to heat stuff and they will have the galley open to purchase the usual stuff too. What do you think is good for a potluck?
