Since I am missing the July ST trip - I think I'm going to have make this happen. Does this replace the George trip?

The RR3 was my home - before 2 kids... Spike and I have a call in on this one.
Going to have to win $2K at Oceans 11 on the ride down to cover it - and then try not to "blow it" at Larry Flynt's establishment.

I'm not trying to steer anyone away from this trip. Really I'm not. But these trips are a commitment...in both time and money. If you're thinking "hmm, that might be fun" but aren't fully committed don't put your name on the roster until you ARE fully committed.
If you are on the fence...talk to some of the guys who've gone before. Review the tackle requirements and figure out whether you'll be able to beg, borrow or steal what you don't have. Figure out if you can take the time off. Have a game plan for the cabbage...the trip fee is just a teaser. By the time you pay for permits ($120ish), jackpot ($30), galley tab (8 days is alot of drinking...could be over $100), tip for the crew (figure AT LEAST 10% but probably 15-20%: $300-400) and fish processing (my last bill was $450) you are going to sink about $3k into this trip excluding any of your tackle requirements, clothing, liquor, sunscreen, pussy pad, moist toilettes...whatever.
Having said that, once you go long, you never look back. I don't look at offshore fishing the same way since I did my first 8 day last year.
I look forward to seeing some new faces next year as well as the same asshats that have tolerated me for the last two years |
Most of that was very well stated Chuck. Its NOT a cheap vacation.....but remember, the fishing is a bonus.
The Boat and crew can guarantee 2 things....... Great food........and Great Service. The Rooster delivers! I am actually looking forward to living to be about 75 years young, so I can go out there and have my hook baited, my line "spot cast" right to a fish, and then Nick fighting it to the boat......so I can get a picture of "MY trophy fish".
Weather, "that guy", poor fishing.......the boat has no control over.....but if we were to find tough fishing....my money is on Andy Cates. That guy never stops looking for MORE fish......
I think I just got called an Asshat!
oh, yeah.......Im in.

All BS aside Danny, these trips are the shit. Especially, if you like throwin' iron at big, fat yellows. I say these trips are the shit, because they are; IF you can deal with a captain on a mission to get on the best fish available, a polite, knowledgeable crew that will bust a gut to help you have a great fishing experience on their watch, fine restaurant grade chow, and lotsa laughs in a safe, comfortable environment. That boat is comfortable, but I know, It's not for everyone. Especially if you nod off in the galley.....
If you can thrive in an environment teeming with shit-talking assmonkeys whose emotional development became arrested at about mid-adolescence, then a spot is waiting for you. Just make the call.
I'm already signed up. |

This trip has the most friendly, helpful, kind, gentle anglers on it that I've ever been a part of. Just don't talk to me before 10 AM and do not farm a fish in view of anyone that gives a shit.
Let's fill this thing up and go and kill some fish next year.
