Flying Fish teasers

How many guys have used the Yumme Flying Fish as teasers or lures by themselves? I know a lot of west coast guys have used them etc and I know some guys in FL have used them on kites. But have many of you used them in a string as a teaser? Was wondering before I dropped the cash on 4-5 of them. Thanks.

Re: Flying Fish teasers

We have used them as teasers and they worked well but, in my opinion birds or squid chains work just as well. We also us them under a kite or just free line them behind the boat while chunking or live baiting. Try to get your hands on the frenzy flying fish they are a little cheaper and work just as well. Frenzy also makes a mini flyer that the tuna can't resist. I like to rig a circle hook to the top of the baits head via rigging wire and us a water cork to cast it.

Re: Flying Fish teasers

Hey Flotsam, new to the site here.
The new melton catalog has got em pre-rigged in a chain. We have used them chained in the spread on the wfb with good luck. We rig a naked hoo about 6' behind the chain.
Just my 2 cents.

(New here)- Look at the pictures of the pre-assembled chain of minis. They are drop rigged to jump out of the water. The minis are bridled through the cheeks. It looks like a producer on a short or outrigger.

They will jump more with a chugger or pusher as a chaser, and more with 2-300 pound mono for the drops. Im sure the bird would make them jump more, but if one had a hook, it would tangle-Ive read of using a full sized yummee bird(rigged) as a chaser. Im guessing on what ive read, and first hand accounts seem to be rare with doing the drop-loops.

I have a hoard of minis and 'delta wings' I bought with a gift card, but am waiting to see how they run before rigging. The plan is to build a couple bars, a couple chains, and a bunch of single or double droppers in front of naked ballyhoo rigs. I want to see if I can imitate a school, with naked ballyhoo chasers.
