I've been hearing scattered reports of Blue Fin Tuna's showing up off the coast of Va., I don't know if there have been any hogs caught yet, but if I get a day away... LOOK OUT!!!
Anyone had any luck yet???
They usually feed on sand eels and are hard to get to bite, I am trying to mimic the baits with daisy chains and spreader bars as well as pulling a couple of WWB (way way back) islanders.
What does everyone else pull??? I'm open to suggestions...
I've never fished for them when they were "picky". When they stack up off of Cape Lookout just about anything you put in the water is gonna get slammed. A lot of Albies there, so go with larger baits. Drone spoons, naked horses, etc. I would be careful with spreader bars... Albies love 'em. Be prepared to loose some rigs when you get hit by a locomotive. I've caught them within sight of the lighthouse in late Dec... early Jan. Always nice when they come inside of the Knuckle, you can save a lot of fuel!

Tom: The spreader bar I'm working on is a short bar with 3 chains, if I lose it, I lose it... I just want to go to war with a BIG Blue Fin Tuna!!!
