Private Twin Cessna rips to Baja and ?

Hello All,

I'm a SOLAS 100 ton Skipper with a mexico FM-3, I'm also a light twin pilot. I've got a Cessna 310H that runs around 200MPH and carries pilot plus five. Anyone interested in doing shared cost trips to Baja or anywhere else there is sun and Fish, give me a call. My motto is "I fly, you buy! No druggies or convicts please, I need to jump through hoops with customs every time we fly back in these days. The airplane costs about $300 an hour to fly, example Mag Bay 8 hours roundtrip is $2400 for five paying, thats about $500 each to put you right on the beach at Magdalena Loreto, etc. La Paz and Cabo are doable too, cost is around 12 hours or $3,600 total. I've got access to a Cessna 421 too, it flys around 300MPH and carries seven plus pilot. It costs around $500 an hour to fly. You need to put me up and feed me, I'm good for up to a week away at time, then I need to go home and throw out the mailman. Call dan at 949-768-6053 or PM or e-mail me at dadler@osc.us.com.

I guess we need to ask, as a private pilot, what are your ratings? Do you have your ATP, instrument rating, etc. A little more information would be expected. How many hours do you have in the type you are flying, etc. etc. IFR, VFR, which is covered above. Twins pose a speical need in an engine regard to engine out proceedures .Year, make, model of aircraft and hours logged in type. Shall I go on?

Art, You took the words out of my mouth!!! It is a 310 but it looks nice.

Besides the fun of the old days of building hours I can hook ya up with a 737-900 at 500 mph, good looking flight attendants, and a drink or two for half of the cost.

Don't take this the wrong way Dan-- I started flying in the 60's so I think I can pick on you a little!!! Make an offer to split the fuel costs and you might get a taker. BTW/ nice looking airplane.

Hi Art,
No worries, I'm always happy to talk piloting! I have approx. 750 hours, all in Complex (RG) aircraft. 575 were in my 1980 172RG, the rest are in my twin Cessna 310H. I hold Single and ME Land (obviously), just finished my written for the IFR and will be taking orals and flight test next month. I chose to hold off on IFR pending my panel upgrade. I just put the finishing touches on my Panel, a new IFR WAAS GPS, a Garmin 430w, pretty excited about that! I have over 500 hours logged IVFR flight time into Baja without incident, though I did pay a $500 fine when I flew into Loreto at twilight once because they claimed they had to keep the airport open for me! I flew to and from Loreto, Gurrero Negro, and Ensenada, I owned and as a SOLAS rated skipper I captained a 100 foot dive and fishing boat which worked the Sea of Cortez, and later, the aquaculture industry out of Ensanada, you've seen the pens. The good news is I AM NOT A DOCTOR, which ups the odds of success in flying with me considerably! (Little Pilot Joke there). I have three ATP pilots available and on my insurance, all good guys and 10,000 hour pilots, can't say they fly my plane any better than I do though! Don't see many of the Rockwells, do you own the original Rockwell or the newer Commander manufacture? IO-540, right? At 260HP thats got to be a fast bird.....

Hey Dennis,

As usual another old-timer busts my balls and rains on my parade ! If you can get me to the beach at Mag Bay for $250 I'd be there right now! And are you dis'ing my 310?!! Believe me , $200 bucks an hour plus gas IS sharing expenses on a 1400 hour TBO! I don't remember any of my flying buddys offering to "share" the $50K I just spent on my engines and props!! I've spent twice what the lady is worth in todays market, but she flys like a champ now. The 310 is a handful of bird, but runs rings around anything in her class. She's now at 40 hours SMOH props and engines. In doing the panel upgrade, we pulled every spliced wire out of that bird and replaced it, (about 2 miles worth) not to mention replacing the vac, oil and hoses, which are supposed swapped every 8-10 years and looked ready to disintegrate!

Oh, And gas money? Don't you know that the pilot don't pay? Actually I have a great place at Kino Bay, 26' panga and house just about done, I do shared trips down there too, I've got a little wiggle room there....

Thanks Dan, Dam between flying and fishing stories we might not get any work done.

I have a few trips in the 310 and yes they are fun. Started flying in a 172 in 1968 and soloed in a Colt then moved up to a Tri Pacer and though I had the world by the tail. Owned a Mooney for a few years but working at a FBO I soon found my friends toys cost less. Got my multi in the 70's. I have found a boat can cost almost as much!

I wish you the best and if it works out we should fish together some day.

Hmmmmmm "I fly, you buy". I would think the Feds would be on you like stink on shit. You need to be careful about soliciting and how you word your solicitations.

Lycoming 260HP, IO540-T4B5D. The plane has been sold due to money constraints. Have fun down in Cortz. I will also refer your name a group of guys I know who visit cortez on a regular basis.

F$#@ you!!!! This is a hanger talk site and tin benders are not allowed. As for my hair color only my hair dresser knows I did find a deal for your next boat. A 1/10 share in a Bert 35 with brand new engines, shafts and gears. Only $125K That was about the cost of the repower so the way I see it you get your part of the boat for free.

I just might be able to beat you. I have a picture of my son with some old guy that had his license signed by Wilber!!! It was at an airshow in Michigan. Also I bet I got closer to the Space Needle (sea) in a MD80 then you have.

As for the fishing---Bring me some Yellow Fin Tuna and I will almost pay you for the extra Alaska charges. Don't try to call Gloria next week as she will be busy!!!

Have fun and tell Many hello.
