Mobilize the Troops for N. Palos Verdes

Note: Hey BD'rs, this is my first time posting since I spend most of my time on the kayak boards. Looking forward to working together on the MLPA!

5 more shifts to fill!

If Palos Verdes is your spot or you're concerned about the impact it's closure can have on your area, we need your help again--this time to recruit some more guys to hit the ground running. We'd like to make a big effort this weekend before the San Pedro (7/6) and Marina del Rey (7/7) meetings. We're asking you to volunteer at least 4 hours (or more!) of your time on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Yeah, we realize it's a holiday weekend but that makes it all the more important since a lot of guys are gonna be out fishing. They're our target audience.

We're implementing a shift schedule and will have tables setup at various landings and tackle shops. You basically just need to report for your shift, hand out flyers, chit chat with anglers and let them know about the meetings. Simple, right?

Note: We need multiple volunteers per shift--it's ok to sign up for a shift even if you see someone else's name there. That means we can hit more locations. If you can cover 2 or more shifts, karma's gonna pay you back--just ask Grego, our recent La Jolla winner!

We've created some flyers in conjunction with Keep Rocky Point Open to help our local efforts. Here's the material you'd be working off of:

Guys, we have just 8 more spots to fill. Bloodydecks is a huge fishing community and I'm hoping we can borrow your strength in numbers for our small effort. I know it's prime fishing time this weekend, but consider spending just a few hours to fight for your fishing grounds.

Short of it, I'm guessing we probably saw about 300+ anglers between the 3 landings, many on a one-on-one basis (that doesn't include the guys still out there that are gonna hit the twilight or overnight boats). About 85% of the anglers were absolutely clueless and had no idea what the MLPA was. Another 10% heard about it but didn't know what was going on. The last 5% were in the know and were already committed to being at the workshops.

For the most part they all responded positively but I'm not sure how many will actually attend.
